Title: Beyond the Obvious: Unraveling Hidden Workplace Dangers
1BEYOND THE OBVIOUS UNRAVELING HIDDEN WORKPLACE
DANGERS
2INTRODUCTION
OSHA, a federal agency under the United States
Department of Labor, ensures workplace safety by
setting standards, enforcing regulations, and
providing training. Its mission is to create a
safe working environment where employers
prioritize employee well-being through proactive
safety measures and compliance with regulations.
OSHA also collects data on workplace injuries,
assists businesses in compliance, and
participates in emergency response efforts.
3CASE STUDY WORKPLACE SAFETY INSPECTION AT
DYNAMIC TOOL CO. INC.
El Paso's Dynamic Tool Co. Inc., a precision
parts manufacturer, was recently found to have
serious safety violations in a U.S. Department
of Labor inspection. The inspection, part of
OSHA's program on amputations in manufacturing,
revealed 58 violations, including two willful
safety violations and one willful health
violation.
4WILLFUL HEALTH VIOLATION
WILLFUL SAFETY VIOLATION
OSHA issued willful safety citations against the
company for lacking machine guards, putting
workers at risk of amputations and injuries from
machinery.
The willful health citation was issued due to
the company's failure to establish and maintain
an audiometric testing program for employees
exposed to excessive noise.
5Additional Safety and Health Violations
The Absence of Lockout\Tagout Systems
Electrical Hazards Neglect
Energy Control Training
No Noise Monitoring
Material Storage Issues
Missing Machine Guards
6Training Importance Employee safety training is
crucial for a safer work environment.
Resource Allocation Employers should invest in
safety programs for a healthy workplace.
Beyond Compliance Employers must prioritize
employee safety beyond regulations.
