Mrs. Waite has been a Critical Care Registered
Nurse Expert for 42 years, working in all areas
of critical care. This includes Surgical Trauma
and transplant, Neuro Critical Care and stroke,
Burn Trauma, Cardiac and Cardiovascular ICU, and
Medical ICU. She currently practices in the ICU
at the University of Colorado Health -Highlands
Ranch Hospital, where she cares for Cardiac,
Neuro/spine, Stroke, Trauma, Medical, and
Surgical ICU patients. As a Certified Legal Nurse
Consultant, Kathi is passionate about helping
both Plaintiff and Defense Attorneys understand
the intricacies of the healthcare industry and
the complexities of the medical record. RNs are
the front-line providers of care to the patient

Most recently, Kathi wrote an excellent report
defending the nursing staff in a lawsuit
involving a fall of a high-fall-risk patient. Her
insights about nursing practice and her
willingness to thoroughly review thousands of
pages of medical records made a significant
difference to our defense, compared with the
generic and simplistic report by the Plaintiffs
nursing expert. Kathi is also a straight-shooter,
having told me on another case that she could not
support the nursing care of a patient who
required significant opioid medications for

Kathi Waite is a Legal Nurse Consultant in
Colorado. I contacted her to review the hospital
records, the employees training, the video of
the incident, and the police records to determine
if the hospital acted appropriately when
restraining a patient that resulted in an injury
to a hospital employee when the patient attempted
to release himself from the restraint. Ms. Waite
reviewed the file quickly and efficiently and
wrote a report that concluded that the hospital
and staff did not follow their own standard
operating procedures. The case was dismissed. Ms.
Waite is responsive, thorough, frank, concise,
