4Fountain of the Square of the Virgin of the
Kings A monumental fountain and lamppost
Sculpted from a variety of white and red
marbles and features an iron lamppost on top.
Water flows into scalloped basins from the
four Roman grotesque masks on each side, carved
from white Ravaccione marble from Carrara, Italy.
Created in 1925 for the Ibero-American
exposition of 1929.

9Fountain of Hispalis An allegoric fountain
... Also called the Seville Fountain, because
Hispalis was the name given by the Romans to the
city of Seville. The fountain presents a series
of sculptures allegorically depicting Seville.
A Nereid in a tunic sits on a large lotus leaf,
supported by childrens figures mounted on large
turtles. This work by Manuel Delgado Brackembury
was installed in 1929, the year of the
Ibero-American Exhibition.

14Fountain of the Frogs The whimsical Frog
Fountain in María Luisa Park ... The oldest
fountain in the entire site, dating back to 1914,
when what used to be the San Telmo gardens began
to become a park. Circular fountain, covered
with tiles, on the eight green ceramic frogs
spout water in the fountain. In the center is a
sculpture of a duck standing on a turtle.

17Fountain monument to Catalina de Ribera In
1921, the architect Juan Talavera y Heredia used
part of an old 16th-century fountain to create
another fountain dedicated to Catalina de Ribera,
founder of the Hospital de las Cinco Llagas.

fascinating history ... its presence here dates
back to the 16th century. Fountain with
pillar decorated by masks pouring water and
architectural elements of baroque
aesthetic and with a sword held aloft by the god
Mercury (bronze figure that is not known for sure
if it is the original or a copy of it).

Pile Made in the mid-nineteenth century
... in marble with animal-shaped jets, and
with a bronze duck.

28Fountain at the Saint Diego Gloriette Fountain
decorated with figures representing Hispania
and allegories of the riches of the Hispanic
world. Hispania with majestic stature is
accompanied by lion who supports one of his legs
on a representation of the terraqueous orb,
signifying the power of royalty. The
allegorical figure symbolising "spiritual wealth"
holds a small image of the Immaculate Conception
in his hand, and the "material wealth" carries a
cluster of grapes and some ears of wheat. The
fountain was located at one of the entrances to
the Maria Luisa Park during the Ibero-American
Exhibition of 1929.

32Fountain of the Four Seasons A monumental
fountain inaugurated in 1929 ... The name owes
to four sculptures that surround the central body
of the fountain, representing to the stations of
the year.

35Fountain - Columbus Monument The monument was
created in 1921 for the Ibero-American Exposition
of 1929. The fountain consists of a pedestal
decorated with two marble medallions with the
bust of Columbus and the coat of arms of the
Catholic Monarchs. On this base are placed two
columns that support an entablature topped by a
lion with an orb. Halfway up the columns are the
prows of two caravels with two cartouches with
the names of Isabella and Fernando. Both the bows
and the two cartouches are made of bronze. Its
total height is 23 meters.

39Fountain Monument to Juan Sebastian Elcano It
commemorates the feat performed by 250 men who
began their journey from Seville on August 10,
1519, aboard five ships, captained by Ferdinand
Magellan. Being the first to circumnavigate the
Earth for the first time, on September 8, 1522 a
total of 18 men returned to Seville aboard the
Victoria ship, captained by Juan Sebastián
Elcano, since Fernando de Magallanes had died in
the Philippines during a confrontation with the
indigenous people. The monument is divided into
three parts a pond with jets, a mural with a
world map and a statue of the navigator On the
right is a column with bas-reliefs depicting
characters from the epic journey priests,
sailors, indigenous people, soldiers.

44Fountain to the Poets of the Generation of
27 In the Jardines de Cristina there is a
superb fountain that pays tribute to the
Generation of 27... Of Macael marble, presents
poetry texts carved on its sides. At the top is a
bronze sculpture depicting the Muse of Poetry
reading a book. The term "Generation of 27"
refers to a group of Spanish writers and poets
of the twentieth century who rose to fame in the
cultural scene in 1927 with the tribute to Luis
de Góngora.

47Fountain of the Lions Beauty and charm
... An octagonal fountain decorated with
tiles and four fierce lions, each carrying a
shield The lions, the work of sculptor Manuel
Delgado Brackenbury, were installed in 1928.
Very deteriorated, they were replaced in 1957 by
copies of the Sevillian sculptor Juan
Abascal. The fountain was restored in 1992.

50Fountain in the Courtyard of the Orange Trees,
Cathedral of Seville a serene patio and a
modern fountain that occupies the place of the
old Sabil. However, the upper bowl is Visigothic
and is the same as the original Almohad fountain,
which is why the ablutions of the Sevillian
Muslims were performed here before entering the
mosque.

53The Janus Fountain of the Pilate's House, Casa de
Pilatos In a magnificent "patio" paved with
marble slabs ... sits a marble fountain with
double pile, very clearly Italianizing. A group
of sculpted dolphins hold the upper circular
pile, crowned by the bust of Janus made in the
first century. Janus, In ancient Roman religion,
god of beginnings, gates, transitions, endings.
Janus presided over the beginning and ending of
conflict, and hence war and peace. He is depicted
as having two faces. This bust was not part of
the original fountain, but was placed in the
early eighteenth century in place of the
sculpture of a satyr.
