2The Royal Palace of Caserta (Reggia di Caserta)
is a former royal residence constructed for the
Bourbon kings of Naples. Caserta is located 40
kilometres north of Naples

4The palace has 5 floors, 1,200 rooms, including
two dozen state apartments, a large library, and
a theatre modeled after the Teatro San Carlo of
Naples
Contemporary observers noted that the Caserta
surpassed all other royal palaces in Europe,
including its models, on one particular aspect
the combination of completeness and stateliness.
This is attributed to the spacious oval piazza in
front of the edifice's south side
Each floor measures approximately 47,000 m2, but
considering the five floors, the whole palace
measures 235,000 m2
