Your journey to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)
trek begins with an early tourist bus ride from
Kathmandu to Pokhara, the tourist capital of
Nepal. You will be captivated by Pokharas
stunning beauty, which features breathtaking
mountain views and serene lakes. Starting from
Pokhara (820m / 2,690ft), you can admire the
spectacular scenery.   On the second day, youll
drive from Pokhara through Birethanti (1,039m /
3,250ft) to Tikhedhunga, where the actual trek
commences. The trail from Tikhedhunga winds
through paddy fields alongside the Modi River,
leading to Ulleri (1,540m / 5,050ft), your
destination for the day. The following day, your
trek will take you to Ghorepani (2,860m /
9,385ft), which offers stunning views of the
Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampus,
Nilgiri, Barash Shikhar, and Machhapuchhare
(Fishtail). The fourth day is particularly
special as youll reach the famous Poon Hill
viewpoint (3,210m / 10,525ft). Rising early,
youll hike to Poon Hill to witness the sunrise
over more than 32 ranges of the Annapurna,
Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri. After enjoying the
breathtaking panoramas from Poon Hill, youll
head to Tadapani (2,630m / 8,630ft) for the
night.

Why Annapurna Base Camp?
While trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, you'll
traverse varied terrains, witness traditional

climates. Along the way, you'll be treated to
breathtaking views of the Annapurna range,
Macchapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri.   This
trek, also called the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek,
takes you through the Annapurna Conservation
Area. The sanctuary is rich in diverse flora and
fauna and includes ethnic Gurung and Magar
villages, all encircled by the Annapurna
ranges.   The unique landscape of the sanctuary
supports a thriving Himalayan ecosystem,
featuring drier regions as well. The area is also
home to charming Thakali villages at the base of
the Annapurna mountains. With terraced paddy
fields, dense pine and bamboo forests, and the
serene environment, the trek offers a peaceful
escape from city life, transporting you to a
different time and place.
