Home is where a childs learning process begins,
and parents are their first teachers. You can
teach them the basic alphabet, numbers, colours
and rhymes even before they begin their
schooling, but what is more important is helping
them learn important life lessons in these early
years. It could be as simple as guiding your
children to follow hygienic practices. Such early
childhood education goes a long way in shaping
their lives and making them responsible
individuals. Here are some of the important life
lessons you should teach your children in their
early years.
3
Kindness and Empathy
The first life lesson a child should learn is
about being kind and helpful. They should be able
to empathise with others and respect everyones
emotions. While these may seem like heavy words,
these are basic qualities that children should
learn. You can do this easily by asking them to
help you with little things at home and teaching
them to share things with others.
4
Responsibility for ones actions
We all make mistakes and make wrong decisions at
times. However, when things go wrong, we should
stand up and accept our mistakes. That is why it
is important to instil the virtues of honesty and
teach children to take responsibility for their
actions from the early years.
5
Dealing with failure and setbacks
It is best to teach your children that they will
not always get whatever they want and that
sometimes, they will face failures and will be
disappointed. When they face little setbacks like
losing a small competition, seeing their
favourite team lose a match or times when they
cannot have what they want, you can be with them
and help them learn a healthy way to cope with
the disappointment.
6
Time Management and Organisation
There are many cartoons available nowadays and
you can easily find a few that speak about time
management. The way bedtime stories help them
learn moral lessons these cartoon shows can
create visual impact. Time management skills play
a major role throughout our lives, so if you want
them to be able to manage the different demands
of the world, you should begin teaching them the
value of time.

Personal Hygiene and Self-Care
Most of us would have had our parents or teachers
show a chart with colourful pictures of hygienic
habits that we should follow. In todays internet
era, you can go a step further and can search for
cartoons on self-care, cleanliness and healthy
eating habits. They can also learn from
advertisements like the one for Lifebuoy Handwash
and have fun in the process.

Conclusion
While the above life lessons create the
foundation of their early childhood education,
you can complement these teachings by imparting
additional moral qualities as they mature, such
as emphasising the importance of recycling and
differentiating needs from wants. Whatever life
lesson you decide to teach your child, do it as
pleasantly and joyfully as possible. This way, it
leaves a lasting impact on their lives.

What we do at Manthan
At Manthan, we take pride in fostering
well-rounded individuals through Quality Circle
Times (QCT), where children actively participate
in discussions, voice their opinions, and
collaborate to find solutions to various
challenges. These sessions not only enhance their
problem-solving skills but also build bonds and
friendships that extend beyond the
classroom. Furthermore, our curriculum emphasises
the value of giving back to society. From the
pre-primary level, students are encouraged to
participate in events like Diwali Mela and the
Street Child United Programme, instilling in them
a sense of community and the importance of
contributing to society. In todays rapidly
changing world, problem-solving skills are
paramount. We engage our students in various
real-life situations, challenging them to work
together in groups or independently to find
innovative solutions. At Manthan, we believe in
nurturing not only academic excellence but also
values, problem-solving abilities, and a strong
sense of community. By doing so, we empower our
students to become responsible, well-rounded
individuals who are ready to face the challenges
of the present and the future.
