8220Rocky8221Rorabaugh decided to retire
from the Fort Hays State University Police
Department in Hays, Kansas in 2022, after having
been subjected to college kids8217craziness for
over 41 years. At work, Mr. Rorabaugh had
witnessed and/or worked all kinds of incidents
over the years 8211some happy, some sad, some
scary, some heartwarming, many stupid, and at
least one award-winning. Mr. Rorabaugh graduated
from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center
and from Fort Hays State University, as well,
where for unknown reasons, he thought it would be
smart to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in
German language. He and his wife, Melissa (a
Texas gal and proud of it), live in Hays, Kansas,
where the likes of Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill
Cody, General George Armstrong Custer and Tom
Custer all roamed the streets back in the early
frontier days. 8220Rocky8221and Melissa have
two children 8211Crystal, a home health nurse,
and Dalton, a Detective in the law
enforcement profession. 8220Rocky8221and
Melissa also feed stray cats, rabbits, squirrels,
birds, lions, tigers and bears and any other
forlorn creature who shows up at their door. u
ABOUT THE BOOK /u 8220Rocky8221describes his
life and times and career as a campus police
officer as only he can with generous amounts of
self-deprecating humor and while using an honest
and straightforward style, holding nothing back.
8220Rocky8221also included some hilarious and
interesting sections in the book describing his
ancestors, parents, brothers, certain other
family members and several famous cousins.
Stories from his law enforcement days will, at
times, tug on the reader8217heart. Anyone with
an interest in the law enforcement profession and
its many bizarre moments should thoroughly enjoy
this collection of tales from the
8220nark8221side. A note of caution here
8211once one starts reading this book, one
might not be able to put it down until one has
read the whole thing. At least,
8220Rocky8221hopes so.
