Sinopsis
THIS IS A FANTASTIC READER8217SEDITION!BUT8230
NO CROSS REFERENCES!AND8230NO FOOTNOTES!The
Ginza Rba, also known as The Great Treasure, the
Codex Nasaraeus, and the Book of Adam is the
primary and largest scripture of the Mandaeans
and Nasrayim. This is not the first English
Edition but it is unique. This publication is
not formatted or translated in the typical
manner. First, this is a Readers Edition, not
cluttered with excessive footnotes and
cross-references. Other English editions are
hard to read due to an inline mixture of
translated text and Aramaic source text,
suitable for the scholar but not the average
reader. This edition has a minimum number of
untranslated words making it much easier to
understand. We stayed away from Elizabethan and
obscure language. It is designed for the modern
reader. Complex concepts were simplified.
Occasionally you may need to google a word for a
definition, but not often. If you are looking
for a Critical Edition, consider a more expensive
edition. My edition consulted both Gelbert and
Al-Sabti before going to print and both had some
influence. The major differences are that mine is
much less expensive, is in modern English, and
is simpler to navigate. As editors, we made
decisions concerning word choice. Some word
choices could be popular others, not so much.
Some transliterated Hebrew words are more
familiar to the English reader than the
equivalent words from Aramaic. An example is
Elohim. Many English readers know that is a
reference to a god or God and may be rendered in
the plural
3
sense (gods). The Aramaic is Alaha which causes a
confusion with the Hawaiian word Aloha. I opted
for Elohim over Alaha. Some translators choose
Aramaic and Arabic transliterations for the
Prophet John and also for Jesus. I stayed away
from the Aramaic Yuhana and Eshu and also
rejected the Hebrew Yohanan and Yeshua in favor
of John and Jesus due to familiarity. If such
editorial liberties make you uncomfortable,
please buy a Critical Edition rather than this
one. Gelbert8217swill suit you better.Finally,
the pages are numbered. A very useful index with
an exhaustive list of locations of all important
names and terms is included. The text is an
easily read Times New Roman font. The Ginza Rba
is divided into two parts - the Right Ginza,
containing 18 books, and the Left Ginza,
containing 3 books. The Right Ginza deals with
theology, creation, ethics, and historical and
mythical narratives. The Left deals with man's
soul in the afterlife. This First American Edition
is reasonably priced so that even the casual
investigator can afford it. Please consider a
5-star review. Otherwise, buy a more critical
edition for your needs.
