Key Findings
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Artificial Intelligence (AI)
isn't just a vision for the future it's already
a fundamental aspect of the present business
landscape. Surprisingly, 79 of executives have
either implemented AI-related tools or have
concrete plans to do so in the near future.
However, simply deploying AI technology isn't
sufficient for organizations to truly innovate,
derive maximum value, and maintain
competitiveness. What's equally crucial is the
development of AI skills within the workforce. To
delve deeper into this evolving AI terrain and
comprehend how organizations are gearing up for
the future, we conducted a comprehensive survey.
Our study involved gathering insights from
executives and IT professionals across the USA,
India and Gulf. Through this endeavor, we aimed
to gain a nuanced understanding of the strategies
being employed by organizations as they navigate
the dynamic AI landscape.
79 79 of companies plan to boost AI
investments in the next year.
80 80 of IT professionals fear AI tools might
make their skills outdated.
96 96 of executives and 95 of IT
professionals agree staff proficiency is crucial
for AI success.
83 Despite 83 feeling confident, only 10 of
IT pros have extensive AI experience.
What we find? A significant gap despite the
rapid pace of AI adoption within organizations,
the majority lack a clear understanding of the AI
skills possessed by their employees, if any, and
lack a structured upskilling plan to cultivate
these skills.
Executives and IT experts stress talent,
training, and culture for AI readiness. However,
only 35 have formal AI training.

LEADERS CHALLENGES WITH AI SKILLS
UNDERSTANDINGS
Leaders often struggle to gauge their teams' AI
proficiency. While IT professionals are keen on
learning and adapting, executives lack insight
into their staff's AI skills. Without this
understanding, skill development becomes
challenging. Research shows that 9 out of 10
executives are unaware of their team's AI
capabilities. Although 77 of IT professionals
feel confident in integrating AI, only 9 have
significant experience in the field. Relying
solely on self-assessment for AI skills
evaluation poses risks, as employees may lack
practical knowledge in areas like data
security. To bridge the AI skills gap,
organizations must accurately assess AI skills
across the board. This approach ensures effective
skill development, including practical
experiences where employees can apply and refine
their knowledge in a safe environment.

KEY CHALLENGES IN AI UPSKILLING
Despite a shared understanding of its importance,
many organizations have not yet implemented AI
upskilling initiatives. Our analysis identifies
some major obstacles
Technology Adoption before Employee Training
Reliance on External AI Expertise
General Challenges in Upskilling
A significant proportion of leaders78 of
executives and 70 of IT professionalsacknowledge
that their organizations frequently introduce
new technologies without adequately preparing
their workforce. This lack of a coordinated skill
development plan often hinders their ability to
meet objectives and enhance customer value.
89 of executives are inclined to either hire or
outsource talent to manage AI projects
successfully. However, this approach is only a
temporary fix. Given the nascent stage of AI,
there are few experts available, and those on the
market might not have the precise skills required.
When organizations do attempt to reskill their
employees, they frequently face hurdles that
impede the successful rollout of these programs.
Common issues include identifying suitable
training programs, ensuring the training aligns
with the AI tools, and securing necessary funding.

Encouraging Practical Learning
Strategizing Before Implementation
Measuring and Promoting Continuous Learning
Developing Internal Talent
Before diving into AI technologies, create a
robust skill development plan. Preparing your
team ahead of AI deployment ensures they are
ready to deliver value from the start.
Understand your team's current AI capabilities
through thorough assessments. This insight allows
for the creation of targeted training programs
that address skill gaps and enhance overall
proficiency.
Instead of relying on the uncertain market for AI
experts, invest in training your current
employees. This approach not only meets specific
business needs but also boosts employee
development and retention.
Hands-on experiences are crucial for effective
learning. Provide your team with opportunities to
work in controlled environments, such as labs or
sandboxes, to practice new AI tools without
real-world risks.
Track the impact of your upskilling efforts by
focusing on skill advancement and ROI rather than
just course completion rates. Foster a culture of
ongoing education to keep pace with AI
advancements and sustain long-term success.

SUMMING UP
Expertise of AI skills is the linchpin for
unlocking AI success. As AI becomes more
prevalent in business, many organizations
struggle with a lack of expertise in using these
advanced technologies. The longer they delay in
enhancing their team's skills, the more
pronounced this gap will become. To truly benefit
from AI investments, companies must develop a
thorough AI training program that includes
benchmarking current skills, hands-on practice,
and promoting a culture of continuous
learning. The rapid pace of AI advancements means
there will always be new skills to acquire.
Organizations must continuously develop their
team's AI capabilities to stay ahead and maintain
their competitive edge.
