I dedicate this book to all readers of it. This
book brings out the truth about the saying
that 8220Lie is a journey full of ups and
downs8221It confirms the saying that 8220Evry
day is not a Sunday.8221This is a true story
about my journey as a survivor of Human
Trafficking in the USA. It further confirms the
saying that 8220Eat or West, home is the
best.8221It also brings out the fact that
challenges have no age limit or education level.
It is not predictable to know when you will go
through a particular challenge hence all one has
to do is trust in God and build resilience on
how to overcome challenges along your life
journey. At the adult age of 46, a mother of
three sons, a professional and financially
stable, I was trafficked into the USA when my
trafficker promised me 8220Heven on
Earth8221She convinced me that I was going to
be a manager in one of her companies, only to
end up as an unpaid domestic worker. What
unfolded is what you are about to read. This
story confirms that in this world we are all
siblings irrespective of race, religion, age,
origin, or political affiliation. We need one
another and I would be lying to myself if I took
all the credit for the victory in this story to
myself. I therefore wholeheartedly would like to
thank all the individuals and institutions that
helped me in diverse ways in my challenging
time. I also share all the victories reached in
my journey as a survivor of Human Trafficking as
laid up in the story with them. The year 2020 is
memorable in my life in the diaspora. As in my
book, 8220Huan Traffickers Must Be
Prosecuted8221I was trafficked in the USA in
September 2017. All through November 2018 I was
in the hands of my trafficker. In November 2018
I was rescued by a Navy serviceman Harry Larubi,
Professor Anita of the University of California,
San Diego, and Jessica Fry, Attorney for the
labor commissioner of San Diego. As a victim of
labor trafficking who worked for free for all
that period, I was advised by Jessica to report
my case to the labor commissioner of San Diego
where she

worked. I did report my case on November 29
th,2018, the day after my rescue from
the trafficker. 2019 was a difficult year for me
as I had to go through the court process,
something that stressed me so much because it
was the first time in my life to have a court
case. I was lucky to have a pro-bono attorney
from Legal Aid at work- in San Francisco to
represent me, something that relieved me. The
process took seven months. The hearing took
place on July 8th, 2019, and I won the case. That
meant that my Trafficker was to pay me all my
lost wages plus a fine. The judgment was mailed
to two weeks after the hearing. I had never had
joy in life like I had that day. I shouted and
shouted at the top of my voice thanking God for
restoring my freedom that had been stolen by my
trafficker. The joy of my victory was
short-lived. On October 2nd,2019, I got a message
from the labor commissioner that my case had been
appealed by my trafficker. That left me
speechless because I thought her being an
American citizen would favor her. On a good note,
however, the labor commissioner represented me
at the appeal and the appeal was dismissed On
January 31st, 2020. I was awarded a T-visa and my
life changed positively with so many victories
amidst challenges.I am a published author of two
books/memoirs found at Amazon.com SEX FOR
EDUCATION NO EASY ROAD and HUMAN TRAFFICKERS
MUST BE PROSECUTED. I am the 2023 International
Book Awards winner in the category of Human
Trafficking The extract of my first memoir, SEX
FOR EDUCATION NO EASY ROAD was published by the
University of California-San Diego The Critical
Refugee Studies Collective on November 15, 2018.
I co-authored, Care, Self Determination and
Safety A Community Centered Approach to
Preventing Human Trafficking published by
National Survivor Network, USA on 01/ 17/2023.
and I have participated in developing many
anti-trafficking guideline documents partnering
with NGOs.
