According to the IRDAI annual report 2021-22, by
March 2022, India's life insurance industry had
24.50 lakh agents. Out of these, 7 lakh are
women, making up 29 of the workforce, while
17.43 lakh are men, accounting for 71.

opportunities for women looking to start or
restart their careers. With the rise of women
entrepreneurship in India, the insurance industry
provides women with rewarding and sustainable
income options.

Who is an Insurance Agent Woman?

An insurance agent woman sells insurance products
on behalf of an insurance company or broker. She
assists clients in purchasing different types of
insurance, such as general and life insurance
policies. There are two main roles as an agent,
she can represent up to 5 insurance companies
with a single license as a Point of Sales Person
(PoSP) under an insurance broker, she can work
with multiple companies without restrictions.
