itineraries perfect weekend trip in Freetown,
one week and two weeks in Sierra Leone. These
cover all the basics, but what if you are a
person with a special interest in nature and
adventure? Or maybe you love history, or just
want to spend time on the beach?
Welcome to the first of our themed itineraries!
This two weeks wild Sierra Leone itinerary is
all about nature and wildlife, without forgetting
some of our wonderful beaches!

The Perfect 2-Week Itinerary to Discover Sierra
Leone Day 1-3 Freetown
Spend the first few days in Sierra Leone
exploring lesser-known attractions in Freetown
and around. Hike Leicester Peak, visit Fourah Bay
College, and if you want a real treat spend a
night at Tacugama, meet the chimpanzees and sleep
in a treehouse.
Day 4-5 Freetown Peninsula Beaches
Forget the busy big-ticket beaches and spend the
next 2 days on offbeat beaches like Black Johnson
and John Obey. Both these beaches have eco lodges
nearby, so you can relax and try some adventure
activities like kayaking or paddle boarding,
before heading back to your comfortable room!
The Amazing People of Sierra Leone
Day 5-7 Banana Islands
Get away from it all on a 3-day trip to the
Banana Islands. Embrace the slow lifestyle on
these 3 stunning islands get around on foot,
visit historic sights, meet locals and perhaps go
diving or plan other water activities. Dalton
Banana Guesthouse is a great place to get started!
Day 8-10 Tiwai Island
Famous historical figures from Sierra Leone
After heading back to the mainland, spend the
best part of a day travelling to Tiwai Island, a
wildlife sanctuary known for its biodiversity.
Take a guided tour of the island, spotting rare
wildlife like the pygmy hippopotamus and various
primates. Enjoy a night hike, or go on a canoe
trip on the Moa River.
Day 11-13 Gola Rainforest
From Tiwai, travel further east to Gola
Rainforest. Embark on a guided hike through the
rainforest, searching for rare and endemic
species such as the Diana monkey. You can also
visit a local community, to learn about local
culture and conservation.
Day 14 Return to Freetown
Your last day will be spent travelling back to
Freetown. One thing is certain, this wont be
your last trip to Sierra Leone!
