Born in Ukraine, Vlasta Smola is a Chicago based
computer graphic artist by day but her hobby is
painting in acrylics and watercolors. Her works
are exquisite in detail and color. She's
immensely talented for a hobbyist
painter. I find myself forever fascinated with
the Art Nouveau period and its representatives
Alfonse Mucha, Czechoslovakia Antonio Gaudi,
Spain Aubrey Beardsley, England. However, no
less important in my creative endeavors is the
influence of the Old Masters, i.e. Durer, Titian,
Botticelli. I believe in the natures harmony and
grace of a detail, in the peaceful beauty of a
sunlit rosebud, in the inspiring power of a
womans shoulder line. Beauty is the main reason
and purpose for my art. I spare no obstacle in
both challenging and expressing the power
