The monument to José Martí "Los Plátanos" was
built in 1978 by the Cuban sculptor José Delarra
in honor of the Cuban writer José Martí. The
intention of the Cuban sculptor was to poetically
represent a flower. The monument is locally known
as "Los Plátanos" because of its similarity to a
peeled banana

The Kulkulcán Fountain is located at the main
entrance of the hotel zone at the junction of
Boulevard Kulkulcán and Bonampak Avenue. The
fountain features six sculptures of the feathered
serpent named Kukulkán among the Yucatec Maya.
Kukulkán is the name of a Mayan serpent deity
closely related to the Quetzalcoatl of Aztec
mythology. The sculptures are very similar to
those that can be seen in Chichén Itzá

Chacmool

Chacmool (also spelled chac-mool) is a particular
form of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican sculpture
depicting a reclining figure with its head facing
90 degrees from the front, supporting itself on
its elbows and supporting a bowl or a disk upon
its stomach. These figures possibly symbolised
slain warriors carrying offerings to the gods 
Chacmools were often associated with sacrificial
stones or thrones
