labbra protese in bacio trovano espressione
manifesta nella riproduzione di un cuore rosso di
passione e felicità.

23Wilfredo Prieto (Cuba, 1978) Kiss, Milano
24Prieto's Beso is now part of ArtLine Milano, an
open air collection into the public park
realised in the area of CityLife. The artworks
form a single permanent exhibition, fully
integrated with the architectures of Zaha Hadid,
Arata Isozaki and Daniel Libeskind. It took four
years and as many attempts to find the two
tonalite rocks of the Adamello.
25The indications of the artist, the Cuban Wilfredo
Prieto, were mandatory the two pieces, which
placed together form the charm of a kiss, not
only had to be twins and weigh 100 tons each, but
above all they had to be erratic boulders, which
in geology means blocks of stone transported by
glaciers far from their place of origin,
therefore modeled by nature and not artificially
by man. Because the sense of the work "Beso", in
addition to referring to the hundreds of kisses
that dot the history of art, lies in the contrast
between the rough and millenary stone of the
Dolomites and the man-made landscape of
skyscrapers in the background, fragile and
fleeting.
26Christoph Pöggeler (German, 1958) Sculpture of
a kissing couple standing at the top of a
advertising column, Düsseldorf, Germany
27Christoph Pöggeler (German, 1958) One lovely
art projects are the Säulenheilige (which are
Stylites in English) In German Säule is a pillar
and Heilige are Saints and in this case, they are
actually standing on pillars. There are ten
realistic sculptures around town
28The artist, Christoph Pöggeler, wanted to create
life-sized statues that represented everyday
normal people. Why? Because why not put everyday
people up on a pedestal for once? We are so
accustomed to admiring beautiful pieces of
abstract art upon pillars, but never do we have a
chance to admire people much like ourselves up in
the limelight. These sculptures have been
inspired by everyday people office workers,
tourists, moms, couples, etc

32Bassano del Grappa is a city (region Veneto) in
northern Italy. In 1815 it was included in the
Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, and became part of
the unified Kingdom of Italy in 1866. Napoleon
Bonaparte remained in Bassano del Grappa for many
months. The original name of the town was Bassano
Veneto. After the terrible battles on Mount
Grappa in WWI, where thousands of soldiers lost
their lives, a decision was made to change the
name of the town. In 1928, the name was changed
to Bassano del Grappa, meaning Bassano of Mount
Grappa, as a memorial to the soldiers killed.
Ernest Hemingway during his days as an ambulance
driver in the war spent many days in Bassano and
eventually settled there as part of A Farewell to
Arms. Also other American writers spent some days
in Bassano during WWI such as Scott Fitzgerald
and Dos Passos
33The symbol of the town is the covered wooden
pontoon bridge, which was designed by the
architect Andrea Palladio in 1569. The bridge was
destroyed many times, the last time during WWII.
The Alpine soldiers or Alpini have always revered
the wooden bridge and Bassano del Grappa
34On the bridge of Bassano is a song from the
repertoire of the Alpine troops, set on the
Bassano bridge, known for having been razed to
the ground during the Second World War by the
Germans and then rebuilt by the National Alpine
Association, based on the design of the architect
Andrea Palladio in 1569. Since then it has taken
on the attribute of "bridge of the Alpine
troops". In the text, the soldier remembers the
kiss given to his beloved on the bridge
35The famous "bacin d'amor" of the song of the
Ponte di Bassano, absolute "must" of the romantic
rhetoric of black feathers, was immortalized by a
bronze sculpture located in Piazzetta Angarano,
at the entrance to the Destra Brenta of the Ponte
degli Alpini
