Humility is a virtue that unfortunately people of
the current generation do not value much. This is
the reason they are becoming intolerant, violent,
egotists remaining ignorant, and choosing the
wrong direction in life. Being humble opens our
mind to learning and absorbing the good of others
and that is how we grow in life. Becoming an
egotist doesnt help us grow instead it sows the
seed of ignorance within us. When an individual
starts to believe that he/she knows everything or
that whatever he/she knows is optimum knowledge,
the mind becomes a closed and suffocating space.
It opens up only when we realize that there is so
much more to learn and know we become
humble. Wisdom comes from facing challenges in
life, overcoming them, and realizing the fleeting
nature of it all. Wisdom is the profound
understanding of what life is and what the things
most valuable to us are. When a man/woman becomes
wise, he/she can see through the superficial
nature of human beings and their success. The
wise one always knows what is transient and what
is valuable and holds dear the valuable aspects
of life. This is possible when you become open to
experiences and learning. Accepting ones
mistakes and learning from them helps you move on
in life. When you let go of your burdens you
become successful both inside and outside.
3
The relationship between humility And
wisdom Wisdom kills ignorance and also pride
which is important in developing humility.
Learning is a continuous process and we learn
from numerous sources. We learn and grow and with
that, we should become humble to grow even more.
The more you acquire the more modest you become.
You open up to different experiences in your life
and each of those experiences teaches you
something about life, people, and about human
nature. The more you discover life, the more
humble you become. The great sages who knew about
the ultimate truth were all humble people who
kept their burning passion for gaining knowledge
alive. Through that passion, they achieved
nirvana. Pride is also a folly that stops us
from learning and pushing our boundaries. Without
coming out of your comfort zone, you will only
learn about the basics. Advanced knowledge is
probable only when you push your limits. In
learning something new you also discover yourself
and the purpose of your life. This learning adds
humility to your nature instead of pride.
