WORK SAFELY - FOLLOW THESE RULES
Avoid ... sudden starts, extreme uphill turns,
excessive speed, and sudden stops ... when
operating on hillside, rough ground, and most
off- the-road operations.
Avoid heavily-traveled roads when moving equip-
ment, if at all possible.
Be courteous, have consideration for other
traffic using the road.
I f the power steering or engine should fail,
stop the tractor immediately.
Use warning devices (i.e., flags, S.M.V. emblem,
lights, etc.) which are approved for use by your
local government agencies, when moving equip-
ment on public roads. Keep these devices clean
and in good working condition.
Reduce speed when turning or applying brakes.
Always keep the tractor in gear when going down
steep hills.
Carefully supervise inexperienced operators.
When transporting on the highway be sure to
operate the flashing warning lights (except when
such use is prohibited by law).
Stop the engine before leaving the tractor.
Be sure cab doors are securely latched, either
closed or open, when operating the tractor.
The S.M.V. reflector emblem should be used at all
times when transporting on public roads.
Lock the cab doors when leaving the tractor.
Be sure the hitch pin is properly secured and the
drawbar properly stabilized before transporting
equipment.
Open cab doors should not be unlatched while
tractor is in motion.
Comply with your state and local laws governing
highway safety and with regulations when moving
machinery on a highway.
Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure can have
enough force to penetrate the skin. Hydraulic
fluid may also infect a minor cut or opening in
the skin. If injured by escaping fluid, see a
doctor at once. Serious infection or reaction can
result if medical treatment is not given
immediately. Make sure all connections are tight
and that hoses and lines are in good condition
before applying pressure to the system. Relieve
all pressure before disconnecting the lines or
performing other work on the hydraulic system. To
find a leak under pressure use a small piece of
cardboard or wood Never use hands. TRANSPORTING R
educe speed when traveling on rough roads.
Shift into low gear when hauling wagons or equip-
ment on roads in hilly country to maintain better
control of tractor speed. AFTER OPERATING
Wait for tractor to STOP before dismounting.
Lower equipment to ground before leaving tractor.
Shut off engine and remove ignition key.
Lock the park brake so tractor will not roll.
When transporting equipment on the highway, it is
recommended that a safety chain matched to the
weight of the machine to be used. See Implement
manual for proper chain.
Do not remove radiator cap when engine is hot.
To remove radiator cap turn cap to the pressure
relief point let pressure escape then remove
it.
Drive at a reasonable speed to maintain complete
control of the machine at all times.

DRIVING THE TRACTOR
NOTE The cab electrical system is not on
until Rear View Mirror the key switch is on. This
mirror enables the operator to view conditions at
the rear of the tractor.
OPERATlNGTHECABGONTROLS Air Conditioner Switch
and Control
Dome Light
This control has an "Off" and "Max." position for
temperature control of the discharged air.
The dome light is on a live circuit and can be
operated independent of tractor key switch. I t
is turned "On" and "Off" by a pushbutton switch
adjacent to the light.
To help lower humidity, the air conditioner may
be operated in conjunction with the heater.
The pressurizer fan switch must be turned on for
the air conditioner system to operate.
PREPARING THE TRACTOR FOR EACH DAY'S WORK Check
the level of the coolant in the recovery
reservoir. Refer to "Cooling System".
Be sure to keep your doors closed when air
conditioner is in operation.
Operate the air conditioner a few minutes
periodi- cally during the off season to lubricate
the seals.
Check the oil level in the engine crankcase. Also
lubricate the chassis points recommended for
daily service. Refer to "Lubrication Guide" and
"Lubri- cation Table".
If the evaporator freezes up it may become
necessary to turn the control to a warmer setting.
Inspect the tires for general condition.
Pressurizer Fan and Speed Switch
FUEL GAUGE When the key switch is turned on, the
fuel gauge indicates the level of the fuel in the
fuel tank.
This control turns the pressurizer fan on and
regulates air into cab.
Low, Medium, and High speeds are available.
NOTE The key must be left in the "On" position
while the engine is running so the fuel gauge
will function.
This switch must be turned on to deliver heated
or cooled air into the cab through adjustable
louvers.
FILLING THE FUEL TANK
Windshield Wiper Switch
The windshield wiper is controlled by an "On" and
"Off" switch.
CAUTION! Never remove the fuel tank cap or fill
the fuel tank when near an open flame. Do not
smoke when work- ing around inflammable fuel as
the air around the tractor is mixed with highly
explosive vapor. When pouring fuel, keep the
container or hose nozzle in contact with the
metal of the fuel tank to avoid the possibility
of an electric spark igniting the fuel.
Heater Temperature Control
This switch has an "Off" and "Max." position. In
the "Max." position engine coolant flows through
the heater core. The pressurizer fan switch and
control must be turned on to deliver heated air.

DRIVING THE TRACTOR
Wipe the dust and deposit from the fuel cap and
filler neck before removing of the cap. This
insures against foreign deposits dropping into
the fuel tank. Fill the fuel tank, preferably at
the end of each day's work. This will force out
any moisture-laden air and prevent condensation.
This seat reduces most jolts and shocks. The con-
tour design lends itself to comfortable seating.
Arm rests are provided for added comfort. A
built-in shock abosrber cushions the roughest
jars.
Fore and Aft Lever
The seat moves forward or rearward 4 inches to
suit short or tall drivers.
NOTE Do not fill the tank to its full capacity
as space is required for vapor expansion in the
event of a temperature change. A tank filled to
capacity may overflow if exposed to a rise in
temperature or direct sunlight. The filler cap on
the fuel tank has an air vent. This vent should
be kept open at all times to assure proper flow
of the fuel.
Release the adjusting lever and move the seat as
desired.
Back Cushion Angle
Before starting the tractor for each day's work,
open the fuel tank water drain cock on the left
side of the fuel tank to drain off water and
sediment. Close the drain as soon as clean fuel
appears. ADJUSTING THE SEAT
  • MA-J07
  • - Weight adjuster (ratchet) lever
  • - Cushion angle notch positions
  • The back cushion can be adjusted to three posi-
tions to accommodate drivers preference and
    comfort.

Lift the back cushion, angle it to one of three
positions as desired, then lower cushion into a
notch to secure it in place.
  • MA-10751
  • - Fore and aft adjusting lever
  • - Ride level indicator

Arm rests shown in upward position.

DRIVING THE TRACTOR
Weight Adjuster Lever Seat suspension is
adjustable by means of the ratchet lever to suit
the weight of any operator from 130 to 275
pounds. Correct adjustment posi- tions the drive
and seat midway in the suspension, thus limiting
bottoming and topping. The handle on the weight
adjuster (ratchet) lever is notched so that by
pulling up and turning the handle 180 the
direction of preload can be changed. For best
ride adjust preload, while seated, so tip of
is flush with frame. Return
ride level indicator
lever to storage position to prevent interference
with hydraulic valve levers. Ride Level
Indicator This indicator is located inside the
back cushion left frame upright. It is used for
assurance that the seat is properly adjusted to
the operator's weight.
With too much preload, the indicator will be for-
ward of the frame edge. With insufficient
preload, the indicator will be behind, inside of
the frame edge.

    position
  2. - Lock pin in center hole position

STEERINGTHE TRACTOR The tractor is steered by
means of the steering wheel actuating the power
steering system.
3 - Lock pin hole for articulated right position
NEUTRAL STARTING SWITCH The neutral starting
switch, actuated by the engine clutch pedal, is
located under the instrument panel just above the
clutch pedal. It prevents moving the tractor
accidentally with the cranking motor or starting
the engine when the clutch is engaged.
Do not move the steering wheel until everyone is
clear of the tractor and the hinged area.
If the power steering or engine should fail, stop
the tractor immediately. To prevent injury while
raising or servicing the tractor, lock the frame
in the straight position.
Use the lock pin in the hinge yoke center hole.
TRANSMISSION RANGE AND SPEED LEVERS Push the
HI-LO range selector lever down to "LO" for low
range and pull lever upward to "HI" for high
range. NOTE The tractor must be stopped before
changing from one range to another. BRAKES The
tractor is equipped with a hydraulic caliper
brake. NOTE I t is not a steering brake.
FRAME LOCK PIN
Do not use the frame lock pin during normal
operating procedures. The tractor must be free to
pivot at the hinge area.
Use the lock pin only when the tractor is being
serviced and must be in either the str-uight
position or articulated position.

DRIVING THE TRACTOR STARTING THE TRACTOR Start
the engine. Then advance the engine speed control
lever (refer to Engine and Fuel
System). Disengage the park brake. To prevent
transmission damage, depress clutch completely to
actuate transmission brake before attempting gear
en- gagement.
With the clutch in the disengaged position, move
the transmission range lever to the desired
range, "H I (high) or "LO (low). Then move the
speed control lever to the desired speed.
Range Selector
Shift Pattern
MA 10726
Range and speed shift pattern.
Five forward speeds and one reverse speed are
available in each range. The speed lever also has
a neutral position.
Start the tractor in motion by slowly releasing
the clutch pedal and advancing the engine speed
con- trol lever to a position where the engine
operates best for the load to be handled.
To shift, depress the clutch pedal and select the
desired gear.
NOTE Do not shift gears while the engine clutch
is engaged or while the tractor is in motion.
CLUTCH PEDAL
Do not ride" the clutch or brake pedals by
resting the feet on the pedals while driving the
tractor because this will result in excessive
wear on the linings.
Depress the clutch pedal when stopping tractor or
shifting gears. Depress clutch pedal completely
to actuate clutch brake before attempting
gear engagement to prevent possible transmission
damage.
TACHOMETER This meter indicates engine r.p.m. I t
also records engine hours of operation.
For increased clutch life, release clutch pedal
slowly to start tractor motion, at an engine
speed not over 1,700 r.p.m. After tractor is in
motion, engine r.p.m. should be increased to
rated speed.
TRANSMISSION BRAKE OPERATION To operate the
transmission brake, depress the clutch pedal
completely. The operator will feel the
transmission brake because pedal effort will in-
crease from approximately 55 to 80 pounds. This
will stop the transmission gears from turning and
allow you to shift the transmission into gear.
SPEEDOMETER This instrument shows normal tractor
speeds in miles per hour.
DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEVEL TELLITE
This tellite is used as a warning and will come
on when the level of lubricant in the front drive
unit is low. The light will go out when the
lubricant js at proper level.
If the transmission brake does not work properly
this is an indication that your clutch may need
adjustment and the proper action should be taken.
