factory without oil in the wankeaee. Before a new
engine is started in warm weather, eevm quartz of
a good grade of oil having a body of SAE No. 20
should be put in the crankcase. Before a new en-
gine is started in cool weather, eeven quarts of
a good grade of oil having a body of SAE 2'fo. 10
ahould be put in tiie crankcaee. In addition to
this, for the running- in period add one pint
oflignt oil to each five galloneof fuel for the
firstfifty hours. Adler tbn engine has been
properly run in, dismntinue the use of light oil
in the fuel, but mntinue to uae the light oil in
the crankcase in cold weather. For further

  • There is a drain hole in the boss of the
    carburetor, which permits fuel to drain out when
    the carburetor ie Boode This drain hole carries
    a eeal on tire ineide to keep dirt out but is of
    a type that will let fuel drain out when the
    carburetor is Aooded, which is usually due to
    excessive choking or stop- ping the engine by
    grounding the apark and leaving the throttle
    fully open.
  • When cracking an engine the crank should be
    pulled upward by half turns. If this is done the
    operator's cranking hand is in a position to
    avoid being ttruck by the starting crmk, if there
    is a reversal of the direction of the ro- tation
    of the engine from agy cause whatsoever.
  • After the togine is running, set spark lever down
    in full advance position.
  • Set throttle ao that engine runs about half
    normal speed and adjust carbu- retor needle valve
    until engine runs free and snappy.

    engine running, pull backward on the clutch lever
    until it atops rotation of the belt pulley, move

    engaged Any gear speed may be selected, but the
    tractor must be stopped before gears can be
