Mice and rats Soak cotton balls in peppermint
oil and place them where rodents are active.
Steel Wool Because steel wool is difficult for
mice and rats to chew, it appears to be an
excellent pest deterrent. Stuff steel wool into
any holes or cracks where mice may enter.
Flies Apple Cider Vinegar Trap Fill a jar
with apple cider vinegar and a few drops of
liquid soap, then cover it with plastic wrap and
poke small holes. Flies are attracted yet unable
to escape. Citrus, lavender, peppermint,
eucalyptus, and lemongrass essential oils can be
used to repel flies.

Mosquitoes Remove Standing Water Mosquitoes
breed in standing water, so remove any stagnant
water from your home. Citronella Candles
According to the American Mosquito Control
Association, citronella candles work efficiently
as a mild repellent.
Bedbugs Diatomaceous Earth Spread food-grade
diatomaceous earth over affected regions.
Heating method Regularly wash and heat-dry
bedding to kill bedbugs. Declutter and clean
your home Remove and wash bedding, curtains, and
clothing in hot water, then dry on the highest
heat setting. Vacuum your mattress, box springs,
and surrounding regions.

Spiders Peppermint Oil Spiders loathe the
scent of peppermint. Mix peppermint oil with
water and spray in spider-infested areas.
Vinegar Combine equal parts vinegar and water
and spritz into corners and crevices.
Termites Cardboard Trap Wet a piece of
cardboard and place it near termite-infested
regions. When termites infest cardboard, remove
and burn it. Boric Acid Create a paste by
combining boric acid powder and water, then apply
it to cracks, crevices, and areas with obvious
damage. The termites then transport the acid back
to their colony, effectively eradicating the
entire population. As a result, avoid
over-application because termites cannot
penetrate thick layers.

Precaution to keep home pest-free
Seal the Entry Points Keep Them Out! Begin by
checking your home for possible access points.
Pests can get through even the smallest holes and
fissures. Examine the foundation for any
openings, including windows and doors. Use
weather stripping to fix gaps, restore damaged
screens, and caulk holes. This not only keeps
pests away but also encourages energy
conservation. Landscaping Tips Trim and Tidy
Up A well-kept yard serves as a natural barrier
against pests. Trim plants and trees away from
the home to reduce pathways for insects to enter.
Regularly mow the yard, rake the leaves, and
eliminate any standing water. Pests enjoy hiding
in overgrown plants and thrive in regions with
excessive wetness. Kitchen Vigilance Do Not
Invite Them to Dinner The kitchen is a popular
area for bugs. Keep all food in closed
containers, pick up crumbs immediately, and
repair any leaking faucets. Inspect under
appliances on a regular basis for spills or
crumbs that could attract bugs. Keeping a kitchen
pest-free is essential to keeping it clean.
Attic and Basement Check No Hidden Places
Pests find dark, congested locations to be ideal
hiding places. Check your attic and basement for
signs of pests, such as droppings, nests, or
gnawed items. To deter bugs from settling in,
keep these places well-ventilated and dry.
