operating and maintenance instructions for the
2120, 2130, 2140 and Vineyard and Narrow V E
agricultural tractor models. When in need of
service parts always quote the tractor,
transmission unit, and engine serial numbers,
including prefix and suffix letters. If
information is required that is not available in
this manual see the nearest authorized Case IH

SAFETY Safety Rules Understand that your safety
and the safety of other persons, is measured by
how you service and operate this machine. Know
the positions and oper- ations of all controls
before you try to operate. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK
ALL CONTROLS IN A SAFE AREA BEFORE STARTING
WORK. READ THIS MANUAL COMPLETELY and make sure
you understand the controls. All equipment has a
limit. Make sura you understand the speed,
brakes, steering and load characteristics of the
machine before you start to operate. The safety
information given in this manual does not replace
safety codes, insurance needs or national and
local laws. Make sure your machine has the
correct equipment required by local laws and
regulations. Case is continuing to work for your
safety by making tractors with protection and by
givin these rules for safe ratiön.
Before StaÛing
CAUTION Check the machine lor leaks or any parts
that are broken, not working correctly, or not
there at all. Before you sfart the machine,
tighten all caps, dipsticks, battery cover, etc.
WARNING Before starting the engine, be sure all
operating contro/s are in neutral. This will
ease starting load on the starter and batteries
and will eliminate the accidental start up of PTO
driven equipment.

HAND SIGNALS For communication unde noise
conditions and for special operations, a system
of standard hand signals has been devised which
can decrease time loss and prevent accidents.

Start the Engine
Put your hands in front of your face with the
backs of your hands outward. Move your hands in
or out as an indication of how far to go.
Move arm in a circle at waist level
Stop the Engine
Move Out
Move your right arm across your neck from left to
right.
Face in the required direction of travel. Put
your arm straight out behind you, then swing your
arm over your head and forward until your arm is
straight out in front of you with the back of
your hand up.
Move Toward Me - Follow Me
Look toward the person or vehicle you need to
move. Hold one hand in front of you with the back
of the hand toward the machine and move your arm
from the elbow to the fingers backward and
forward. XIV

Raise Equipment
Come To Me
(Can also be Come to me because I need your
assistance). Lift your arm vertically over your
head with the back of your hand to the rear and
turn yuor arm in large horizontal circles.
Point up with one finger and at the same time,
move your hand in a circle at head level.
Lower Equipment
Decrease Speed
Put your arm out horizontally with the back of
your hand up, then move your arm down about 45
minimum many times. Keep your arm straight and do
not move your arm above your shoulder.
Point to the ground with one finger and at the
same time move your hand in a circle.
Stop
Increase Speed
Raise your hand fully up with the back of you
hand to the rear. Keep this position until the
signal is understood.
Lift your hand to shoulder level with your
fingers closed. Move your closed hand fully up,
then return to shoulder level. Do this quickly,
many times.
