our efforts to provide safe equipment Can be
wiped out Dy a sinple careless act of an
operator. In addition to tbe design and
configuration of equipment, hazard control and
accident prevention are dependent upon the
awareness, concern, prUdence and proper training
of personnel involved in the operation,
transport, maintenance and storage of
equipment. lt has been said the öesr safe/y
device is an intormod, careful operafor. We ask
you to be that kind of an operator.
The designed and tested safety of this eQuipment
depends on it being operated within the
limitations as explained in this

c/ev/ce es an informer, caretul operator' We ask
you to be that kinÖ of an operator. The operator
is responsible for the safe operation of this
mower. The oDerator must be property trained and
qualified. Operators should be familiar witn the
mower and tractor and alt safety practices before
starting operation. Read the safety information
on pages 4 to 7 This mower is designed for lawn
or grass mowing. 1t is not designed for rough
candy tions or heavy weed mowing. It is eauioped
with suction type blades for best results in lawn
mowing. Recommended mowing speed for moss
conditions is from two to five mph.
WARNING Do not allow children or unqualilied
pensons to operate Keep bystanders aw'ay fmm
equipment while it is in operation. 6efore

OPERATION Cutting Height Adjustment Mower
cutting height is raised, lowered, and maintained
by adjusting caster and gauge wheels, Refer to
figure 1 and accompanying chart for approximate
cutting heights. Raise mower with tractor
hydraulics to adjust gauge and caster wheels. It
is important that all three adjustments be the
same, To set cutting height, match numbers shown
in illuslration, (Example hole 2 in caster
adjustment with hole 2 in gauge wheel adjustment,
etc.)

Avoid very low cutting heights. Striking the
ground with blades gives one of the most damaging
shock toads a mower can enCounterand, if lhs
occurs re- peatedly it will cause damage to mower
and drive. 11

rules on pages 4 to 7. Do not operate mower
unless belt shield and discharge chute are in
place and securely fastened. Check that mower is
property ana securely attached to tractor Check
to ensure blades are sharp and secure and cutting
edge is positioned to read in a clockwise
rotation, Check that all hardware is property
installed and secured. Check to ensure spindles
and caster wheels are lubricated. When attaching
drivetine yoke to tractor mid-PTO shaft, it is
important that the spring-activatedlocking collar
slides freely and the balls are seated in groove
on mid-PTO shaft. Check mower cutting height and
attitude adjustment. Raise mower carefully and
ChOCk tO be sure it does not come in contact with
hydraulic lines. IMPORTANT - Mower vibration
tends to loosen batts during operation. All
hardware should be checked regularly to maintain
proper torque. It is a good practice to check
mower before each operation to ensure all bolts
are secure. Power for operating mower is supplied
by tractor mid-PTO. Do not exceed tractor
manufacturer's rated mid-PTO speed of 2000 rpm
maximum. Know how to stop tractor and mower
Quickly in case of an emergency. Should mower
become plugged, causing belt to slip for over two
seconds, maneuver equipment into apreviously cut
area and altow mower to clear accumulated
material. Continue running at least two minutes,
allowing pulleys to cool. Stopping the mower with
belt in contact with a very hot pultey will bake
and ruin belt.

19
OPERATION Operating TeChnique Proper ground speed
will depend upon the terrain, the height, type
and density of material to be cut. Normally,
ground speed willrange from two to five mph. Talk
dense material should be cut at a tow speed thin
medium-height material can be cut at a faster
ground speed. Always operate tractor mid-PTO at
2000 rpm. This is necessary to maintain proper
blade speed and produce a clean cut. Under
certain conditions, tractor tires may roll some
grass down and prevent it from being cut at the
same height as the surrounding area. When this
occurs, reduce your ground speed, but maintain
2000 rpm mid-PTO speed. The Lower ground speed
will permit grass to at least partially
rebound. Under some conditions, grass will not
rebound enough to be Gut evenly. In general,
Power culing heights give a more even cut with
less tendency to leave tire tracks. However, it
is better to cut grass frequently rather than too
short, Short grass deterior- ates rapidly in hot
weather and invites weed growth during growing
seasons. Follow local recommendations for tne
suitable cutting height in your area. When
operating the mower, move the hydraulic Control
valve to the float position. Tnis will allow the
mower to follow ground contours. Tips Extremely
tall material should be cut twice. Set mower at
ahigher Cutting height for the first pass. Then
cut at desired height at 90eio the first
pass. Remember, sharp blades produce cleaner cuts
and require tess power. Analyze area to be cut to
determine the test procedure. Gonsider height and
type of grass and terrain type hilly. level or
rough. Plan your mowing pattern to travel
straight forward whenever possible. Mow with
uncut grass to the left. This will distribute the
clippings oyer the cut area, Discharging
clippings over uncut grass all cause a build-up
and may prevent unifof \2 CUttiDg.
Do not opemte mower Unless discharge chute is
inslatled.
