OPERATING
CONTROLS
IMPORTANT
WARNING - DANGER
The hour meter wi II operate up to 90 seconds
after the igni tion i s turned ' off".
The controls wi II do only what they are intended
to do. Study the instructions below and learn to
use them cor- rectly. Keep hands and feet away
from controls un less you intend to use them.
The smal I white hand circles the d ial every two
minutes to show that the meter is worki ng. The
large red hand is the hour indi cator The smal I
yel low hand shows the total number of hours the
tractor has operated in 120 hour i ntervals. To
read eIapsd hours, total the read ings from the
red and yel low hands.
HOOD RELEASE (See Fig. 6) Push in to release the
hood, permitting access to the engine and battery
area. ANNETER (See Fig. 6)

CONTROLS
OPERATING
  • POSITION CONTROL (See Fig. 6)
  • The posi tion control i s used to adju st the
operating hei ght of front attachments. Proper
adjustment of the posi ti on control al lows the
implement to return to the same pre-set operating
height each time i t i s lowered. The posi tion
control i s i ntended primari ly for the mowar
but can be used to obtain a simi lar adjustment
for the dozer blade and snow thrower. Proceed as
    fol lows
  • Rai se attachment.
  • Loosen lock bar.
  • Turn knob olockwi se to lowest posi tion.
  • Lower attachment and adjust to desired height.
  • Turn position control knob counterclockwi se unti

  • tacted (resi stence i s felI).
  • Tighten the lock bar finger tight. Do not use a
    wrench.
  • HYDRAULIC LIFT LEYER (See Fig. 6)

The hydraul ie I ift i s used to rai se and to
lower implements used wi th the tractor. I t can
only be used wi th the engine running. Op- erate
by pulI ing backward to rai se, and pushing
forward to lower. When the lever i s released iI
wi II automatically return to the 'Lock" posit
ion.

LIGHT SWITCH (See Fig. 6)
A toggle swi tch i s uged to turn the headlights
and taiII igfits on and off.
FRONT HY DRAULICS CONTROL LEYER (See Fig. 6
Thi s lever is used to manipulate front mounted
accns sories. See the Accessory Operator's Manual
for instruct ions.
CHOKE CONTROL (See Fig. 6) When starting a cold
engine, pul I the choke control completely out to
c lose the choke plate and allow a richer fuel
mixture to enter the engine. After the engine
starts, push the choke control about half way in
to keep the choke plate partial Iy c Iosed. Push
the choke control al I the way in to open the
choke plate for normal operation after the engine
i s properly warmed. A warm engine usual ly
requires less choke to start.
STAR TINC .SWITCH AND KEYS (See Fig. 6)
T wo key s are suppl ied wi th each tractor,
taped to the s tart i ng sw i tch. To start eng
ine, insert key in swi tch, turn c I ockwi se to
ON" posit ion and release when eng ine starts.
Do not ho Id key in "ON' posi ti on for more
than 30 seconds at a I ime. Key sh0uId be removed
when tractor is not in use to prevent unauthori
zed opera- t ion. See "Operat ing Instruct ions"
for comp I ete start ing informa- l ion.
THROTTLE LEYER (See Fig 6)
The area of lever travel between the "SLOW",
MEDI UM", and FAST" positions control s the
flow rate of ai r and fue I mixture to the eng
ine and thi s regulates engine speed. When the
lever i s moved upward toward the FAST ' posi
tion, the eng ine speed in- creases, and when i t
i s pulled downward toward the "SLOW" posi tion,
the eng ine speed decreases.
HYDRO SPEED CONTROL PEDALS (See Fig. 7)
FORYJARD PEDAL
Depress the forward pedal wi th the toe of your
ri ght foot to move forward.
REVERSE PEDAL
SPEED RANGE LEVER (See Fi g. 6)
Depress the reverse pedal wi th the heel of your
right foot to move backward. Speed control must
be disengaged before depres- sing reverse pedal.
The speed range lever i s used in conjunct i on
with the throt tie con- trol and the foot pedal
s to determine tractor operating speed. II has
three posi tions "Low , Neutral ' and '
High. "Low" range posi t ions the transmi ssi
on in a low gear ratio for slower tractor speed
and greater pulIing force. 'Neutral di
sengages the gears. The speed range lever must be
in "Neutral" to start the engine. Hi gh" range
posi tions the transmi ssion in a high gear rat
io for faster tractor speed and less pulI ing
force.
SPEED CONTROL (See Fig. 6)
The speed control has been designed for tractor
operating effi - c iency and operator comfort.
Thi s control prov ides a mean s to automatically
r ai ntain your operating speed.
