BRAKE CLUTCH PEDAL This pedal is foot operated
and controls only the brake on this tractor. The
pedal is on the right-hand side of frame. To
operate Depress Drake clutch pedal fully, This
will auto- matically put the hydrostatic tracfion
drive in neutral and engage the brake NOTE The
brake clutch pedal must be completely dep-
ressed.and the P.T.O.switch must be in the OFF
position before the engine can be started FORWARD
AND REVERSE TRACTION DRIVE SPEED CONTROL
PEDALS The forward and reverse pedals are the two
ends of a single rocker type assembly. These two
pedals are located just above the right foot
rest. To operate Depress the forward pedal end
or the reverse pedal end fo confrol fhe tractor's
forward or reverse move- ment and speed. I esting
your heel on the foot resf while dep- ressing the
forward pedal provides a comfortable foot
position for long time operations.
GROUND SPEED CONTROL LEVER This hand control
provides the convenience of operating the
tractor in forward movement without having to
continuously
depress the forward foot pedal. The ground speed
control lever is located onthe right-hand side
ofthe instrument panel, Operation To maintain a
desired ground speed. move the ground speed
control lever to the left and upward, positioning
it in a notch that maintains desired ground
speed.
If ground speed control is not set for maximum
ground speed.
fhe control can be over-ridden by depressing the
forward
pedal to increase the ground speed not the engine
speed.
When forw'ard pedal is released, the speed
control will main-
tain the previously set ground speed. To
instanfly disengage the speed control. apply the
brake clutch pedal. The ground speed control can
also be released by hand with a slight leftward
nudge. NOTE The reverse pedal is locked out when
ground speed control is engaged. The ground speed
control lever must be in the released posi- tion
before the tractor can be reversed. The use of
the ground speed control function is not possible
when tractor is operated in reverse.

regulates the engine speed from SLOW (idle) to
FAST (maximum operating power and speed). When
starting engine, set control to a mid-range
position. As engine warms up, gradually move
control to maximum FAST position. NOTE Always
use maximum FAST position when attachments ore
beine used. To idle, set control in SLOW
position. P.T.O. POWER TAKE-OFE) SWITCH This
switch controls the drive to engine powered
a11achments.
HEADLIGHT SWITCH This rocker type switch turns
the lights ON and OFF. To turn lights ON. push
top of switch in. To turn lights OFF, push boftom
of switch in. IGNITION SWITCH

release lock, then slide seat forward or backward
to desired position. I?eIease handle to secure
adjustment.
NOTE The P.T.O.must be in the OFF position and
brake clutch pedal must be completely deprexed
before the engine can be started. WARNING To
avoid personal injury, before engag- ing the
P.T.O., be sure the ofiochment is clear of any
obstacles. To ENGAGE, pull toggle lever out then
up to the ON position. To DISENGAGE, pull toggle
lever out then down to the OFF position. WARNING
To avoid personal injury, the P.T.O. should never
be on unless on engine powered attachment is
being operated. Turn P.T.O. off when transporting
on ofiachmentto and from a work area. P.T.O.
INDICATOR LIGHT This indicator light will go on
when P.T.O. switch is in the ON position.
indicating that an attachment has power. Ie light
will operate only if ignition key is in the ON
position. Light will turn off if P.T.O. switch or
ignition key is turned oP. IMPORTANT Before
starting tractor, check light for your safety,
keep indicator light operating correctly.

PARKING BRAKE LATCH This latch is hand operated
and sets the parking brake. The latch is located
on the left-hand side of the frame above the
footrest TO SET Depress brake clutch pedal
completely and slide latch forwcird and up to SET
position (see circled illustration, Fig.
2.1A). TO RELEASE Depress brake clutch pedal
until latch releases. WARNING To avoid personal
injury, the parking broke should be set before
the operator leaves the seat.
IMPLEMENT LIFT LEVER Refer to Fig. 2.1A. This
hand operated lever controls the hydraulic
lifting system which will raise
attachments(mowers.tillers,etc.)for transport or
lower them for operation. The lever is located
between the seat and instrument panel. Be sure
the implement has been properly attached before
using lift lever. The engine must be running for
raising implements. To RAISE implement, pull
lever back, To LOWER implement, push lever
forw'ard. Lower implement to the ground before
leaving the tfOCtOf . WARNING To avoio personal
injury, never operate mower with implement liff
in the raised position. Mower must be lowered
completely before operat- ing. DO NO7 OPERATE
MOWER WITH GUABoS RE- MOVED.
HOURMETER I efer to Fig. 2.1A The hourmeter is
locatecl on the instrument panel. This instru-
ment numerically registers the number of hours
the engine
has been run. AMMETER 'efer to Fig 2.1A
Axle f2ange
The ammeter indicates whether battery is charging
or dis- charging. The ammeter ison the instrument
panel. Movement of ammeter needle to the right of
center indicates battery is charging movement to
the left indicates battery is discharg- ing.
Normal operation of the tractor will keep the
battery fully charged.NOTE If ammeter does not
move,orindicatescons- tant discharging, contact
an authorized dealer for service. AXLE RANGE
CONTROL (2 SPEED) This hand operated control is
used to select a high or low operating speed
range for the rear axle or when set to neutral N
allows the tractor to be towed or moved manually
(free wheeled) without starting the engine. The
axle range control lever is located jusf ahead of
the seat (Fig. 2.1A). When operating the tractor
the two speed axle control must be in either the
HI or LOW range.7hetroctorwiIl not drive with
this control in neutral N (Fig. 2.3A). The LOW
range setting allows the tractor to perform
heavier work or operate on more difficult
terrain. The HI range setting is suitable for
light to moderate work on level ground. Exper-
ience will quickly allow the operator to choose
the correct setting 7o operate Shift axle range
control when engine is not run- ning or depress
the brake clutch pedal fully to stop tractor,
then shift control to desired setting. NEVER
SHIFT IN MOTION.
