performance. The 3805 model is designed to mount
behind the truck cab for self-loading
applications. I t can also be mounted at the rear
of the truck bed for use with a trailer or
mid-mounted on a semi-trailer. The 3807 model is
designed to mount bob-tail on the rear of the

Operation
  • CONTROLS
  • The operation of the Knuckleboom Loader is con-
trAled by the boom, stick, grapple, and
stabilizer con- trol levers mounted on the
    operator's platform.
  • Operating symbols are used on a control diagram
located in front of the levers. Study the symbols
    and learn their meanings thoroughly.
  • Two or more levers can be operated at the same
time, such as moving the boom in or out while it
is swinging to the righI or left. Learn to use
two or more functions simultaneously to obtain
smooth efficient operation of the Knuc kleboom
    Loader.
  • CAUTION Be sure stabilisers are lowered to the
working position before moving the boom
  • from transport position.

Main Boom Control Lever
Grapple Control Lever
The boom lever controls four functions of the
main boom. Moving the lever rearward raises the
boom moving it forward lowers the boom. Wh en
the lever is moved to the left the boom swings to
the left moving it right swings the boom to the
right. CAUTION Be sure stabilizers are lowered
to the working position before moving the
boom from transport position.
The gr apple lever controls four functions of the
grapple. When the lever is moved forward the grap
ple opens moving it rearward closes the gr
apple. When the lever is moved to the right the
grapple swings clockwise moving it left swings
the grapple counter-clockwise.
Stabilizer Control Levers
Stick Boom Control Lever
Moving the stick lever forward moves the stick
boom outward moving the lever rearward moves the
stick boom inward.
The right-hand lever controls the right-hand
stabi- lizer the left-hand lever control s the
left-hand stabi- lizer. NOTE Right and ie
ft-hand is determined !rom the operator's seat
with the boom towards the cab ol the
truck. CAUTION Never change a stabilizer setting
while boom is in motion.

OPERATING SUGGESTIONS A control lever operating
diagram (shown on Page 2) is located in fro nt of
the control levers. Study this diagram car efully
to become familiar w ith the con- trol s IM PORTA
NT W hen wo rk ing I he Knuc kl eboo m Loader
for the first time, become familiar with its op-
eration. Drive the truck to a safe open area free
of obstructions and overhead wires. Lower both
stabiliz- ers to the working position. Operate
the control levers slowly at first. Remem- ber
that two levers can be used at the same time.
Note that the speed of the cylinder movement de-
pends on how far the control lever is moved.
Operate all functions sever al times before doing
any actual loading. For a sMOOth, safe, efficient
operation, deve- Iop an operatin g technique that
utilizes two or more functions at the same
time. Avoid abrupt Knu c kleboom Loader actions
such as drop and catch . This tends to produce
instability. U se extreme care when swinging the
boom forward to prevent damage to the truc k When
loading, position Knuc kleboom Loader as close to
stoc k pile as possible to assure m aximum
loading without ch angin g position.
APPLICATIONS
Model 3805
Behind Cab
The illustration above shows the 3805 Kn uckle-
boom Loader mounted directly behind the cab. This
is a self-loading an d unloading application
Rear Mounted
IMPORTANT When drag loading tree length wood or
handling logs, position the grapple at mid-point
of its rotation cycle before swinging boom. ENG
INE SPEEDS
The illustration above shows the 3805 Knuc kle-
boom Loader mounted at the rear of the truc k
chassis with a trailer attached. This is a
self-load ing and un- loading application.
I MPORTANT Run engine for 15 minutes before
operating Knuckleboom Loader for the first time
to be sure oil has been filtered at reservoir.
This will reduce the possibility of plugging the
relief valve screen.
Model 3807
En gine speed for continuous operation of Kn uc
kle- boo m Loader should be from 1800 to 2000
rpm. NOTE When unit is equipped with hydraulic
throttle confro/, engine rpm at idle speed mus I
be sullicient to deliver a f ieas f 10 gpm. II
not, the Ilo w divider will divert the lull llo w
to the lower valve and the upper valve tunc tions
will not operate. The illu stration above shows
the 38 07 Knu ckie- boom Loader mounted bob-tail
