Before using your new operator's cab with air
conditioner acquaint yourself with the
location and function of all controls. Refer to
the illustration for the location and name of the
various eontrols.
directional air louvers until desired air how is
attained,
RE CIRCULATING AIR DAMPER
The recirculating air damper controls the
amount of fresh air drawn in and air that is
recirculated.
PRESSUR IZER SYSTEM
The pressurizer system has a three-speed
circulating blower, directional air louvers,
and recireulating air dampers that provide a
clean, comfortable draft-free air flow. With the
windows and door closed, the pressurizer system
and air conditioner will be more efficient. The
pressur- izer system will operate independently
of the air conditioner.
With the damper slots wide open, the air in
the cab will be recirculated. When the damper
slots are completely closed, only fresh air will
be used in the pressurlzer system. The size of
the slot openings determines the amount of fresh
and recirculated air that is used in the
pressurizer system. With the damper slots open,
the effectiveness of the pressurizer will
decrease and air conditioner cooling capacity
will be increased.
BLOWER
The variable speed pressurizes blower de-
termines how fast the air will be circulated in
the cab. Turn the blower speed control clockwise
to first position for low speed, second position
for medium speed, and third position for high
speed. Turn the blower speed control
counterclockwise as far as it will go to shut off
blower.
When dust conditions are severe, close the slots
to increase pressurizes effectiveness.
To adjust the damper slots, loosen knob and
slide the damper horizontally to attain
desired air mixture. Tighten knob to main-
tain adjustment.
DIRECTIONAL AIR LOUVERS Directional air louvers
control the directional distribution of the
circulating air. With the pressurizer blower
on, reposition the individual

AIR CONDITONE R The air conditioner brings
fresh air into the cab, cools, filters, and
recirculates it. The air conditioner is
protected from serious damage by several safety
devices that will shut off the system when a
malfunction occurs. The satety devices are
electrical fuses, overheat thermostat, and
refrigerant toss switch. If air conditioner
fails to op e r a t e properly, see ' '
Trouble Shooting section, page 9.
Only the operator should be allowed in the
operator's cab when the windrower is in oper-
ation. Never clean or adjust any part of the
oper- ator's cab with windrowe r ignition switch
on. Never operate the wlndrower in a closed
building when servicing the air conditioner or at
any other time. Be careful when operating on
hillsides be- cause windrowe r may tip sideways
if it strikes a hole, ditch, or other
irregularity. Always remember, an accident is
usually caused by someone's carelessness,
neglect, or oversight.
To operate the air conditioner, move the
selector switch to air condition and turn the
pressurise r blower eontroi and air conditioner
temperature control to desired settings. F'or
maximum cooling, operate pressurizes blower at
high speed with air conditioner temperature
control at coldest setting and the recirculating
air dampers open. For intermediate cooling, set
the temperature control to a warmer setting
and pressurizer btower control to medium or low
speed with the recireulating air dampers
closed. To shut off air conditioner, move
selector switch to heater-pressuriser
position. IMPORTANT Be sure pressurizes blower
is on and operating whenever selector switch is
set on air condition. If pressurize r blower
is not on, serious damage will result to air
conditioning system. If blower fails to operate,
immediately turn off air conditioner and see '
'Trouble Shoot- ing' ' section.

STORAGE
NOTE.- I f uindzower battery has been removed
for storage, il will be necessary to temporaril y
install it. The compres for g/ecfric c lutch
will not engage without the battery.
Proper storage of the operator's cab will
protect it and insure against loss of air condi-
tioner refrigerant.
Be sure to close valves and turn off the
switches after turning compressor drive
sheave. PRE-SE ASON SE RVICE Cheek pressuriEer
system filters and clean or replace if
necessary. If the compressor discharge and
suction valves were closed for storage, remove
caps and rotate valve stems counterclockwise
until Stems are all the way out. Replace valve
caps, Install and adjust tension of the
compressor drive belt. See page 7. IMPORTANT
Open the suction and discharge valves before
installing drive belt and operating compressor,
or extensive compressor damage will
result. Review your operator's manual. Remove
air conditioner compressor drive belt. Remove
the suction and discharge valve caps. Turn both
valve stems clockwise until they are fully
seated. Replace the valve caps. Go over
operator's cabthoroughly and tighten all bolts,
inspect wiring, and refrigerant hoses for wear
or field damage. Make necessary repairs to
insure that the operator's cab will be ready for
the next wlndrowing season. IMPORTANT Never
operate windrower with the suction and discharge
valves closed unless the compressor drive belt
has been removed. Extensive compressor damage
will result. During storage, keep compressor
shaft seal lubricated to protect against loss of
refrigerant. Once a month, turn windrowe r
ignition fiwitch on. Turn selector switch to
air condition and rotate air conditioner
temperature control to the right. ThlS will
energise the electric clutch on the compressor.
Then, turn the compressor drive sheave by hand
several revolutions. It may be necessary to open
discharge and suction valves slightly to turn
compressor.

SERVICE
LUBR ICAT ING DOOR HINGES
The filter elements can be cleaned by gently
tapping the element on a flat surface with the
dirty side down. Do not tap in a manner that
may dent or rupture the filter. When the above
methods do not clean the filte r satisfactorily,
wash element in solution of lukewarm water (not
over 100 F.) and a mild nonsudsing detergent.
(R36757R John Deere Dry Filter Element Cleaner is
recommended.) Rinse element thoroughly with clean
water from hose having maximum water pressure of
40psi. Shake excess water from element and allow
lt to dry approximately 24 hours at 70 F.
Protect element from freezing until dry if cold
weather is antici- pated. IMPORTANT Neve r wash
element in fuel oil, gasoline, or solvent. Do
not oil the element. Compressed air wilt rupture
a wet element.
Clean door hinges and lubricate with powdered
graphite periodically. Do not use oil it will
col- lect dirt. CLE ANING SL IDING WINDOW Use
compressed air to blow dust and chaff out of
window track. C L EANING PRE SSURI ZE R FILTER E
LEME NT
The pressurizer system has two reusable
dry-type pleated filter elements. The filters
must be serviced every 10 hours of operation or
sooner if a reduction of air circulation is
noted. fItTERS
After cleaning the element, inspect it for
damage by placing a bright light under the
filter. Discard any filter that shows the
slightest rup- ture , indicated by light shining
through the hole. IMPORTANT Replace filter
element after six cleanings or one year of
service, whichever occurs first. Do not operate
pressurize r blower without element. Wipe out the
inside of the pressurizes com- partment with a
clean, damp cloth. Place panel with the fitter
elements in the pressurizes com- partment, and
tighten the two wing studs at the outside of
each recirculating air damper. Be sure damper
panel with filter elements is prop- erly seated.
Re move filters by loosening two wing studs at
the outside of the recirculating air damper, and
re move the panel with the filters. Clean
filters by using low pressure compressed air, by
tapping gently on a flat surface , or by wash-
ing with soap and water and drying.
NOTE It is o good prac tic e to has e a s econd
s ct of filters to us e while the filter elements
are being s ernic ed.
With compressed air, the air pressure must be
less than 100 psi with a reasonable distance
between the air noszle and filter. Direct the
clean air up and down the pleats, blowing from
the inside (clean side) of the lilter to the
outside. Be careful not to rupture the filters
with the air jet.

CLEANING HEAD LINE R
CL EANING CONDE NSER
Periodically vacuum the head liner to main- tain
its noise reducing qualities. NOTE. Do not wash
the head liver with soap artd water as it will
cans e tñg dust to cake in the foam materiaf and
reduce effectiveness. CHEC KING REF R IGERANT
LEVEL
Use compressed air to blow dust out of con-
denser cores daily or more often if needed.
Periodically, remove condenser cover and clean
motors and fan blades.

With air conditioner control set for maximum
cooling and windrower engine at fast Idle, check
level of refrigerant in sight glass. If liquid
ap- pears cloudy or foamy, the level is low
and should be recharged by your John Deere dealer.
It is normal to see bubbles at the sight glass
when the compressor clutch is disengaged. After
the clutch engages again, the bubbles should
disappear and the sight glass should be clear
after several seconds of compressor operation.
The evaporator must be cleaned periodically. To
clean evaporator, remove the evaporator cover,
then blow dust and chaff off of evaporator cores
and fins with compressed air. If dirt is caked on
the fins, it can be removed with a hard
toothbrush. Be careful when cleaning evaporator,
as the fins bend very easily.
Check refrigerant level periodically.
Wash evaporator drip pan with warm, soapy water
and rinse thoroughly. Make sure the drip pan
drain tubes are free of any obstructions. Clean,
if necessary, with a light, flexible
wire. IMPORTANT Oil and large deposits of dirt
around a fitting indicate a refrigerant leak.
Have it repaired immediately. Make sure the
expan- sion valve sensing bulb is clamped firmly
to the outlet tube at top of evaporator,
