Through Generations The Birth of Bhujia The story
of Bhikharam Chandmal begins with the humble
origins of Bhujia, a beloved snack that emerged
over a century ago in the former state of
Bikaner, founded by Rao Bikaji, in the heart of
the Thar Desert. Tansukhdas Agarwal, who was
originally involved in the manufacture of Bari
(handmade fried snacks), created this new product
and named it Bhujia. The snack quickly gained
popularity and became a favorite in the Darbar of
Bikaner. The Family Business Flourishes Tansukhdas
' son, Bhikharam, and grandson, Chandmal, joined
the business, further establishing Bhujia as a
staple snack. The entrepreneurial spirit
continued with Chandmalji's son, Kishan Gopalji
Agarwal, who moved to Kolkata in 1960 with the
ambition of making Bhujia and Bikani Bhujia
renowned in the region.
