that its a very cumbersome task. Fear of
unknown We are here to try and show a
methodology that can make this more predictable.

    ready
  • What part of my organization is open to
    adaptation?
  • How complex is the business process in the
    different areas in my organization?
  • Are the business processes well defined?
  • Which part of the organization has highest levels
    of customizations / integrations?
  • Are we ready to adopt industry standard processes?

yet connected, eliminates data silos, and easily
enables a connected intelligent business.
The intersection and sharing of key data objects
across the business.
14
Ease of migrating from Oracle On-Prem to Cloud
  • Is it easy to migrate from EBS to Oracle Cloud ?
  • Why we call it Lift Shift?
  • Key Considerations
  • Oracle data structure quite similar between EBS
    and Oracle ERP Cloud.
  • Ease of data mapping between Source Target
    systems
  • Similarity visible in Feature Functionality
    across Standard Business Functions
  • Substantial effort goes in Data Conversion. Quite
similar Oracle Template based data upload
  • Ease in working with Oracle support teams
    protocols for product fixes.

15
Preparing for Cloud Migration
  • Business Process
  • End to end business process reviews to make it
system oriented and ERP cloud friendly
  • Understand change in process flow structures
  • User Training
  • Application Data
  • Understand ERP Cloud Innovations and Limitations
  • Understand change in data structures and data
    flows
  • Understand enhancement process
  • Review master data sufficiency and overflow
  • Review business critical, regulatory and customer
    driven customized reporting
  • - Prepare your users for the Change and to live
with a new set of expectations

16
Cloud Implementation Methodology
  • Replicate Methodology
  • Replicate existing ERP system configurations in
    cloud
  • Almost no customizations or integrations
  • Simple business processes
  • Mostly discrete manufacturing
  • Re-implement Methodology
  • Business Process Mapping/Redesign
  • Gap Analysis and Gap fit for Functionalities on
    current system vis-à-vis Cloud
  • Evaluate existing Customizations
  • Data fit analysis and data transformation
  • Evaluate integrations and Hybrid model

17
Key Benefits Improvements
  • New Cloud ERP application lowers Total Cost of
    Ownership (TCO)
  • Lower levels of IT staffing required within the
    organization
  • Single Integrated Application provided end to end
    transaction visibility.
  • Scalability of Application to support Business
    Expansion
  • Automated Upgrades (Quarterly Patching Cycle)
  • Addresses Disaster Recovery needs Aging
    Infrastructure challenges
  • Financial Control Security
  • Improved User Experience with intuitive Dash
    Boards robust Reporting Tools

18
Improved User Experience with Dashboards
  • Out of the box dashboards helps the Business Team
to see all the pending tasks right away before
    starting the month-end process. These
Infolets/dashboards are very useful on daily
    basis to track the transactions.
  • Sample Snapshot Invoices (Accounts Payable)

19
Improved User Experience (Continued)
20
Challenges in Migrating to Cloud
  • Business Process
  • Long term System Users have adopted built-in
    practices
  • Customers know and understand current system
limitations very closely and work around it well
  • Bolt-on enhancements to add-to or complement
    current system functionality
  • Integrations have been tested /modified over a
    long time
  • Application Data
  • Navigation, Look Feel, Nomenclature
  • Data structures, data sufficiency data overflow
  • Integration with other on-premise systems

Key Challenges Implementation Cycle
Challenges Approach / Learning
Transaction Data - Gap in Extracted Data, leading to issues in porting to Cloud system. Mainly due to COA re-structure Created mapping sheet loaded mapping segment values into Staging Table. Data Extract SQLs referenced staging table to transform data automatically.
Master data Customer Sites/Address was challenge as County details not captured in legacy system Customer Data and impact on Tax derivation should be considered at early stage of implementation.
Missing Business Scenarios Design issues opening up during UAT phase Involve critical End Users early in the Design/CRP phase. To ensure business scenarios are not missed.
3rd party integrations (for e.g. EDI) Limited involvement of End Customers impacted thorough testing, leading to transaction fallouts. Involving (End Customers) of 3rd party applications early in the Project. Ensure rigorous testing for all scenarios.
Cut-Over Deployment Process was painstaking prone to errors. Cleanup of Master Data Transaction data should be started early in the project.
29
Key Challenges Post Go-Live
Challenges Approach / Learning
Post Go-Live High dependency on IT team continues, in-spite of Cloud adoption. Expose users to Video tutorials have them use new system for their learning/training purpose before Go-Live. Super Users should take lead as Change Agent Trainer early in the Project.
First few Month Ends - Balance not tying More iterations of Month End closure to be planned in Implementation cycle when COA re-structure happens. Financial Reports requirement finalization early in the project.
Quarterly Updates Miss out on changes that Quarterly Update brings Proactively track feature release in Quarterly Updates. Project Plan to include regression testing on Non-Prod instance.
