villa, built between 1874-75, after the plans of
the Dutch architect Josef Jacob Schieffelleers,
was named after Alina Stirbey, generals wife.
The architecture of the villa could be described
as having a Romanic style, very typical of both
Swiss and German mountain resorts from the second
half of the 19th century Vila de vacan?a a
generalului I.E.Florescu construita între 1874-75
dupa planurile arhitectului olandez J.J.
Schieffelleers poarta numele so?iei
generalului. Arhitectura se încadreaza în stilul
romanic caracteristic sta?iunilor montane
elve?iene sau germane din a doua jumatate a
secolului XIX

9Alina Stirbey was one of the most important
donors of the Romanian Academy, having at her
disposal a fund for publishing some historical
writings I thoght it would be better to give
this donation a rather historical destination
because the accurate and detailed knowledge of
the national history is the foundation of true
patriotism Alina ?tirbey a fost una dintre cele
mai importante donatoare ale Academiei Române,
dispunând crearea unui fond pentru publicarea
unor scriei istorice Am crezut ca e bine sa dau
acestei dona?iuni o destina?ie mai ales istorica,
fiindca cuno?tin?a exacta ?i amanun?ita a
istoriei na?ionale este fundamentul adevaratului
patriotism

20At the beginning of the 1900s, Sinaia was the
most wanted and searched city, because from the
10 of May until November, when the Parliament
resumed his work, the Royal family was visited
from all the aristocracy at that time. At the end
of the 19th century and the beginning of 1920, a
lot of villas begin to show up, where great
personalities from that period used to live in.
Nicolae Iorga said It exists among the
brilliant summer Sinaia, a Sinaia of the winter,
a permanent Sinaia and another one galvanised
with the best feelings. Your guests from the
happy months are ornated with many talents and
gifts but above all this, they are thin people,
well raised.

22The aristocratic saloon
23The aristocratic saloon, with his
sophi-sticated furniture, soft sofas and golden
frames for the paintings and mirrors, represents
an adaptation to a Palace style. The atmosphere
corresponds to the essence of the style a
rafinated love, bourgeois upon the house and its
objects, where the quiet, peace and comfort of
the space invites you to relax

26With a variety of landforms and a big structural
and morphological complexity, Bucegi Mountains
offer the ideal climate and environment for
various species of plants and animals, some of
them being found only here. In 1935, a part of
the mountains is included into the list of
protected areas in Romania, with the legal status
of a National Park
27Papucul doamnei Cypripedium calceolus, the most
beautiful orchid of Europe
28Bucegi Mountains held a treasure of rare flowers
orchids grow at an altitude up to 2500 metres,
being very difficult to observe them because they
can be mistaken with herbs.
A citizen from Sinaia, passionate by nature and
her wonders, the photographer Dan Anghelescu,
managed to capture the orchids but also other
flowers from the alpine area, reuniting a part of
his work into an exposition which delights the
eye by his coloristic side. Dan Anghelescu, în
vârsta de 75 de ani, locuieste în Sinaia si este,
la baza, inginer mecanic. Pasiunea pentru orhidee
o are din copilarie, când era cel mai bun la
stiintele naturii. Când stai de vorba cu el, te
introduce mai întâi în istoria orhideelor si
începe sa-ti spuna, cu amanunte captivante, câte
o poveste despre fiecare dintre cele 42 de specii
de orhidee din Muntii Bucegi
