In 2013 in Beijing, the largest personal art
museum of China, Han Meilin Art Museum completed
its construction. The art museum is exclusively
dedicated to Han, whose works range from
painting, calligraphy, sculpture and installation

Beijing Han Meilin Art Gallery, with a main
building area of nearly 10,000 square meters,
conteins 2,000 paintings, calligraphy,
sculptures, folk crafts, etc., and nearly 3,000
works will be exhibited. His work includes
enormous bronze sculptures with traditional
Chinese themes, modern logo designs for numerous
Chinese businesses including China Airlines and
the 2008 Beijing Olympics, calligraphy based on
"The Sealed Book" - a compilation of ancient
calligraphy, and a vast array of ceramics,
drawings, paintings, and stone sculptures. Mr.
Han Meilin live in a building next to the museum

Born in Shandong Province in 1936, Han Meilin is
a graduate of the Chinese Central Academy of Arts
and Design. Han Meilin has had a prolific
artistic career of painting and sculpture. He was
commissioned to create the 10 meter high Five
Dragon Clock Tower for the 26th Olympic Games
held in Atlanta in 1996. Other monumental
sculptures include Tigers for Dalian in
Liaoning Province, The Bull for Jinan, Cock
Crows to Herald the Break of Day for Zibo in
Shandong Province, and Sacred Bull for Shekou.
Han Meilin also created the Fuwa doll mascots for
the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Han Meilin was the
first Chinese artist to receive the Peace
Artist title from UNESCO. In 2015, on October 15
at the UNESCO Headquarters, he was named the
UNESCO Artist For Peace. In recognition of his
long-term commitment to promoting art and
artistic education in China, his support to
providing quality education to young people,
notably through projects led by the Han Meilin
Art Foundation, and his dedication to the ideals
and aims of the Organization. The Han Meilin Art
Foundation supports cultural education, as well
as artists and cultural programmes in various
parts of the world including Asia and Africa.
Han Meilin has had solo exhibitions in more than
20 countries, including Canada, Malaysia and
India.

To celebrate his 80th birthday that falls on Dec
26, Chinese artist Han Meilin, who is mostly
famous for his designs of Fu Wa mascots for the
2008 Beijing Olympics, is holding a solo
exhibition at the Venice International University
in Italy.Titled The World of Han Meilin in
Venice, the exhibition opened on Thursday
displays some 200 paintings, sculptures,
installations and designs, revealing the
diversity of Han's career throughout several
decades. It runs through Feb 28 and is free for
public viewing. Highlight exhibits include Han's
iconic works portraying animals, whose images are
inspired by ancient Chinese bronze wares. His
other works show his longtime studies of Chinese
cultural traditions, such as ancient characters
and folk arts and crafts.
