Introduction
  • Double data rates refers to a type of synchronous
memory dynamic random-random access memory used
in computers allow data to be transferred on both
the rising and falling edges of clock signals
effectively doubling the data transfer rate
    compared to traditional SDM.

3
DDR WORKING
  • DDR memory utilizes a technique called
dual-pumping where data is transferred on both
the rising and falling edges of the clock
    signals.
  • This contrasts with older memory technologies
that only transferred data on one edge ,
resulting in slower data transfer rate.

4
Benefits
  • DDR memory significantly increases the speed of
data which can be moved between memory and the
    processor.
  • DDR memory improved the performance of overall
    system.
  • DDR memory allow computers to handle and run
    multiple applications concurrently more
    efficiently.

5
DDR Versions
  • DDR1
  • Internal Clock Speed(MHz) 133 to 200
  • Bus Clock 133 to 200
  • Data Rate(MB/s) 266 to 400
  • Voltage 2.5/2.6
  • Transfer rate(GB/s) 2.1/2..6

6
DDR2
  • Internal Clock Speed(MHz) 133 to 200
  • Data Rate(MB/s) 533 to 800
  • Transfer Rate(GB/s) 4.2 to 6.4
  • Voltage(V) 1.8

7
DDR3
  • Internal Clock Speed(MHz) 133 to 200
  • Data Rate(MB/s) 800 to 2133
  • Transfer Rate(GB/s) 8.5 to 14.9
  • Voltage(V) 1.35/1.5

8
DDR4
  • Internal clock speed(MHz) 133 to 200
  • Data Rate(MB/s) 1600 to
    3200
  • Transfer Rate(GB/s) 17 to 21.3
  • Voltage(V) 1.2

9
Comparison
10
Applications
  • DDR memory is widely used in various devices
  • Computers
  • Servers
  • Mobile Devices like smartphones

11
Conclusion
  • DDR as compared to Single Data Rate has
    revolutionized computing by doubling data
transfer rates .Its enhancing system performance
and responsiveness . It has also improved power
efficiency , higher capacity and synchronization
with the system clock , making it versatile for
    various applications.
