Background

• Chris Whitwam founded the company WPC in 2004.
• Having worked for Wadkin for 20 years developing
  CNC routers for various industries including
  Aerospace. Supplying most of the Aerospace prime
  and sub-contract companies with CNC
  routers.(Including Hurel Dubois).
• Also spent 5 years running CMC in Bolton
  specialising in producing sub-contract aerospace
  components, supplying Hycrome and Hurel with the
  Eurofighter DLF project, blanks and Embraer
  offload direct to Hurel.

Capabilities

• CADCAM
• We have 5 operators who are very proficient in
  the use of AlphaCam. This system can nest parts
  to full sheets enabling us to have a very
  efficient material utilisation.

3D visualisation enables complex parts to be
viewed on screen. The illustration shows a part
in its formed and flat state. We work with IGES
or DXF files and have our own in house
engineering capability.

Capabilities

• CNC Routing
• We currently have 3 CNC Routers in operation and
  have a new machine planned for delivery later in
  the year. Machining capacity up to 4000mm X
  1500mm.All machines have automatic toolchangers
  for drilling and routing.

Capabilities

• De-Burr

We have available a high capacity facility with
state of the art machinery. The computer
controlled machine has a very high thickness
accuracy and gives a high quality surface finish
to the upper and lower faces of the parts without
damaging the cladding on cladded material. The
holes as well as the edges are processed
simultaneously.

Capabilities
We use pneumatic shears for removing tabs and
linnishing machines for removing more delicate
tags, the component edges can be linnished if
required.

Capabilities

• QC Inspection and first articles
• WPC is a ISO 9001 registered company.
• We have installed a non-contact high speed vision
  and laser technology measuring machine. This
  machine can measure thickness, profiles and hole
  diameters of flat parts and also section details
  of formed parts. The reverse engineering function
  allows us to create high accuracy CAD files from
  actual parts or templates or even from a paper
  drawing or tracing.
• The reporting facility gives a report which
  compares an actual machined part to its original
  IGES or DXF file with any out of tolerance or
  missing features displayed. This forms part of
  the C of C.
• The table allows a part 1200mm X 1000mm to be
  measured in one pass but oversize parts can be
  measured in sections and later stitched back
  together.

• Through our working partners we are able to offer
  components which can be -
• Supplied as routered and de-burred blanks only,
  or
• Heat treated bent and formed, plus
• Painted and part marked, plus
• Sub assembled ready to fit to the aircraft and
  DLF if required.
