19New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Automatic firmware upgrade/downgrade for
DRIVE-CLiQ components - From SINAMICS firmware version 2.5 onwards when
booting - DRIVE-CLiQ components are automatically
upgraded or downgraded to the status of the
component firmware version on the CF card. - Components that cannot be downgraded to the
component firmware version of the CF card (e.g.
old firmware on the card and new components, on
which the old firmware cannot be loaded) remain
at their present firmware release. - The firmware version combinations that are
therefore obtained will be system-tested and
released. - The status of the upgrade downgrade operation
is displayed on the LEDs of the controller and
the LEDs of the components. - Note In V2.5, after the update has been
completed, to accept the firmware a power off/on
must be manually carried-out at the module. This
is displayed in the form of an alarm.
New functions
20New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Automatic firmware upgrade/downgrade for
DRIVE-CLiQ components - When replacing parts / components, the following
rules apply - or are obtained - Parts / components can principally be replaced
without STARTER/SCOUT. This functionality has
been available since V2.2 with the factory
setting of the parameters for topology comparison
stage (p99060 high) and for component
replacement (p99091 accept replacement). - Replacing parts / components with CU firmware
version lt V2.4 - The user must ensure that the firmware
version of the components that will be used as
replacement is higher/the same as the component
firmware version on the CF card. -
- Replacing parts / components with CU firmware
version gt V2.5 - The system automatically carries-out an
upgrade/downgrade of the DRIVE-CLiQ components if
the firmware version of the components differs
from the component firmware version on the CF
card.
New functions
21New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Automatic line supply frequency detection
- Previously, it was necessary to enter the rated
line frequency (50Hz or 60Hz line supply) when
configuring/engineering the infeed unit. - Disadvantage If, for different rated line supply
frequencies at the commissioning and installation
location, the parameters for the rated line
supply frequency were not adapted, then after
booting, the drive system output a message. - With SINAMICS FW V2.5 it is not necessary to
enter the rated line frequency. When operation is
enabled - the system determines the actual
frequency and sets the rated line supply
frequency to 50Hz or 60Hz corresponding to the
parameter. - ? The system can be operated on either 50Hz or
60Hz line supplies without any other operator
action required (no manual setting).
New functions
22Automatic line supply frequency detection
New functions
23New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Sensor Modules connected to DRIVE-CLiQ motor
(SMI) - Part replacement with empty SMI
- SMI data (motor and encoder data) from DRIVE-CLiQ
motors can, from SINAMICS FW V2.5, be saved on
the CF card. - This means that when a defective Sensor Module -
connected to a DRIVE-CLiQ motor has to to be
replaced then it can be replaced by an empty
SMI. The system then runs with the SMI data on
the CF card. - ? A replacement part (empty SMIxx) can be used
for all DRIVE-CLiQ motors. - The parameters saved on the CF card can be
written to the emptySMI per parameter or using
STARTER.
New functions
24New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Saving a STARTER project directly on the CF card
- The STARTER configuration can be saved in the
CF-card format - Using a write device connected at the PC -gt
directly to the CF card - On the hard disk
- ? data is saved / archived directly in the CF
card format - ? CF cards can be written to for series machines
- ? changes can be made and then sent on a CF card
to the machine / plant (no STARTER know-how is
required on-site)
New functions
25Saving STARTER offline project on a CF card
New functions
26New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Edge modulation in the vector control type also
for booksize units - A higher output voltage can be achieved using
edge modulation. This means that the drive
converter output voltage can reach the connected
line supply voltage level even when using
non-regulated infeed units without step-up
controller values. - For SINAMICS chassis units, edge modulation has
been implemented since FW V2.3. For the booksize
units, the function is enabled with FW V2.5 in
conjunction with the power units with new gating
unit Asic (DAC-ABO) (6SL312x-xTExx-xAA3). - For reasons of stability, in practice (steady
state), approx. 3 control margin to the
theoretical maximum value of the output voltage
is maintained. This means that the max. output
voltage is given by - 0.72 Vd (with edge
modulation) - 0.67 Vd (without edge
modulation) - The magnitude of the DC link voltage depends on
the Line Module. - For Basic Line Modules and Smart Line Modules the
following applies Vd
1.32 ... 1.41 V line supply - For Active Line Modules the following applies
Vd 1.5 V line supply (1.41...2.0) - Note The servo control type reaches a modulation
depth of 0.71 Vd
New functions
27New SINAMICS S120 functions from V2.5
- Harmonizing the basis sampling times in the
vector control type - The basis sampling time (current controller
clock cycle) in the vector control type was
previously pre-assigned with the following values
from the system depending on the number of drives
configured on the CU - 250µs for 1st and 2nd vector drive on a
controller - 400µs from the 3rd vector drive on a controller
- From SINAMICS firmware version 2.5, the basis
sampling time from the 3rd driveonwards is
pre-assigned as 500µs on a controller instead
of previously 400µs. - Reason for the change / advantages
- When connected to a clock-cycle synchronous
Profibus (therefore this also involves
SINAMICS_integrated) the basis sampling time must
be a multiple of 125µs. - The previous sampling time change to 400µs meant
that the pulse frequency had to be changed - As a result of the change to the pulse frequency,
a sinusoidal filter was no longer able to be
operated - With a basis sampling time of 500µs, the pulse
frequency remains at 4kHz when using a sinusoidal
filter -
- 250µsec ? 4kHz or 2kHz (depending on
f_pulse_rated of the power unit, for sinusoidal
filter always 4kHz) - 400µsec ? 2.5kHz or 1.25kHz

controller settings or torque limits are kept
