Factitious Disorders

• Factitious disorders, like Munchausens, is
  faking sick to occupy the sick role
• NOT MALINGERING faking sick for material gain

Munchausen Syndrome

• Patients with this mental disorder want to assume
  the role of a sick person so they intentionally
  feign or produce symptoms and spend much of their
  life traveling from place to place and moving
  from hospital to hospital to be admitted as
  patients, often undergoing unneeded surgical
  procedures.

Dissociative Disorders

• Dissociative Amnesia
• Dissociative Fugue
• Dissociative Identity Disorder
• Depersonalization Disorder
• Remember ALL disorders cause major distress or
  impair social, work or personal functioning

Somatoform Disorders

• Conversion Disorder
• Psychological factors are related to it
• Hypocondriasis
• symptoms for at least 6 months

Pain Disorder

• Main symptom Pain in one or more areas of the
  body

Body Dysmorphic Disorder

• Main symptom person is preoccupied with an
  IMAGINED defect of appearance or is excessively
  concerned about a slight anomaly

Undifferentiated Somatoform Disorder

• At least one physical complaint
• Trouble breathing
• Chest pain
• Painful urination
• Fatigue
• Present at least 6 months
• Cannot be explained by doctor
