General Luminaire Types

• Par Pin Spot

Par Pin Spotlight

• Very narrow angle (5-10 degrees)
• Typically referred to as rain lights
• Useful for providing highlights, accents
  specials
• Effective when all general lights are dimmed to
  draw attention to something

Plano Convex Spotlight

• Beams spread from 10-65 degrees in a single
  fixture
• Not really used anymore (has been replaced by the
  ellipsoidal)
• Field of light is uneven
• Useful in providing acting area localized
  lighting to specific areas of the stage

Beam Projector

• Similar to a fresnel without a lens
• Narrow intense beam of light with a soft edge
• Useful to simulate sunlight, moonlight, to
  provide strong motivated beams of light

Follow Spotlight

• Narrow spotlight
• Used to follow or spotlight a performer on stage
• Used to highlight a performer or group of
  performers on stage
