- Design and implement a water project that will
address the issues of child mortality either

- Sustain and increase its membership base
- Implement successful projects that address the
needs of its community and communities in other
countries - Support The Rotary Foundation through both
program participation and financial contributions - Develop leaders capable of serving Rotary beyond
the club level
11Membership
- All clubs should increase membership by at least
10 focusing on the New Generation. - Each district should add two new clubs.
12New Member Orientation
- A sponsoring member will mentor each new member,
and will provide orientation to the ABC's of
Rotary and club responsibilities. - During their first months of membership New
members are given specific details of what is
expected of them by way of attendance, attitude,
finances and participation. - New members wear a red ribbon and serve as
greeters at the door until they can recite the 4
Way Test from memory. - New member orientation is conducted twice
annually by the Assembly Chair, James E. Moore at
club assemblies that highlights Rotarys past
present and future. - The weekly Rotary Minute introduces new members
to different aspects of Rotary International, and
provides an avenue for discussion.
13Continuing Education
- Continuing Education on various aspects of the
community, nation and the world are provided
through weekly programs with a variety of
different speakers and topics. - In addition, topics of interest from Rotary
International are at least conducted quarterly,
which include but are not limited to Rotary
International, District 5930 and Club Goals, the
Rotary Foundation, PolioPlus, Youth Exchange, and
Group Study Exchange.
14Membership Action Plan
- Develop a calendar for all members.
- Commit to bring in quality members and develop
projects to retain them. - Focus on communication among members.
- Involve family through community projects and
club assembly and retreats. - Have fun each week through enthusiastic Sergeant
of Arms, and entertaining meetings. - Develop goals for the year and work and monitor
them each month through the Board Meetings. - Work with other clubs to improve the image of
Rotary and collaborating on various projects. - Provide information to the public via the Public
Relations Chair and, committee. - Work with other clubs in International Projects
and with GSE Team - Schedule experienced and knowledgeable speakers
that appeal to the members.
15Make Dreams Real For The World's Children
- Rotarians should use their resources to help curb
child mortality. - 30,000 children under the age of five die every
day from preventable diseases such as pneumonia,
measles, and malaria. - Children die not because nobody can help them,

- In 2008-2009 Rotary will keep the service
emphases of recent years -- water, health and
hunger, and literacy. - Special focus in each of these areas on children.
- Rotarians can improve children's health, even in
small ways, such as delivering mosquito nets,
rehydration salts, vitamins, and vaccines. - "So much more can be done with just a little
more a trained birth attendant, a simple clinic,
a school feeding program, a visiting nurse." -

Study Exchange (GSE), permanent fund, PolioPlus,
and Scholarships. - Designate November as Rotary Foundation Month,
and have Ed Ramirez discuss the various program
of the Foundation including encouragement of
members to contribute to the Permanent Fund. - Rotary Foundation Committee will meet quarterly,
and will report ongoing progress, and projects
during club meetings at least 4 times a year. - The Club will accept applications for GSE Team
and host GSE Members. - Designate a Scholarship Chair.
26Leadership Development
- Identify at least 5 members as potential future
leaders. - The President Elect and the incoming President
Elect will attend PETS to promote leadership
development, as well as continuity and teamwork
in the club administration. - Each new member will be mentored by sponsor, as
well as club leaders to determine areas of
interest. - Each new member will be placed on a committee of
interest. - Each new member will be encouraged to attend the
District Conference and District Assembly.
27Public Relations
- By designating a Public Relations Chair, it is
hoped that this year the Laredo Daybreak Rotary
Club will have at least one article about a club
service project printed in the local newspaper.
In addition, as different service projects are
implemented, the Public Relations Chair will
ensure Television and Radio Coverage of the
events. - The Public Relations Chair, Henry Flores, will
conduct PSA's for both radio and television. In
addition, he will submit monthly articles about
ongoing club activities to the District
Newsletter.
28Public Relations Action Plan
- Adopt the Optional Club Committee, and
Subcommittee Structure. - Designate a Public Relations Committee chaired by
Board Member Henry Flores to focus on Public
Relations, and the promotion of Rotary Ideals and
Service Above Self. - Provide Training for Public Relations Committee
on writing effective press releases, working with
the media, using nontraditional and new media
tools to promote Rotary, learning how to measure
the success of the public relations campaign to
better prepare for future efforts, and linking to
resources, including videos, from Rotarys global
public image campaign, Humanity in Motion . - Rotary Foundation Committee will meet quarterly,
and will report ongoing progress, and projects
during club meetings at least 4 times a year.
29Club Administration
- Board Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of
every month. - In addition to the Governor's visit, there are
at least two club assemblies scheduled one in
the fall and one in spring. - The Board has a retreat and budget planning
meeting. - A Strategic Plan is developed and discussed in
the annual Board Retreat in June, which includes
long term projects, as well as input from
president elect and the vice president. - New Members are encouraged to join committees,
and take interest in club leadership positions. - The Club President contacts each member via
e-mail, on a weekly basis, on the Wednesday prior
to the club meeting to provide updates on
projects, and events scheduled for the week. In
addition, all new members are placed on
committees of interest. - The Club President and Secretary use the Member
Access to update its membership list. - The club bulletin is published weekly, and handed
out during club meetings.
30Club Administration
- Daniel Guevara is the Program Chair, and as such
orgranizes club programs. The Program Chair
encourages all members to provide feedback as to
what interests they have. In addition, he
empowers each member to provide input into the
development of each program, including contacting
prospective speakers for progams. Finally, he
provdes a schedule of events to be published in
the weekly bulletin.

- The Web site is updated quarterly.
- The club observes and actively promotes the
special months of the Rotary Calendar Year - Fellowship activities are conducted at least
quarterly. - Our club involves family through community
projects, club assembly and retreats
