- To its east is the first social housing in
London, Arnold Circus.
- The red route was instrumental in the decline
of local business and community

23However Is Gentrification that bad?
- Unintentional, but did contribute
- Neglected for over 30 years Hackney unable to
find use
- Neglected buildings- increased crime, and
environmental neglect
- Not integrated, but not the end of the story
- No animosity, rather an odd mix of sense of
pride and intrigue about the work of the Circus
Space
24Circus Space was significant in the
gentrification of Hoxton. Possibly a negative
side-effect of what is overall a positive
influence on the local community.
