2Polytechnic University of Tirana (PUT) its
history
- PUT was founded in 1951 under the name of
Polytechnic Institute - In 1957 the Polytechnic Institute was introduced
in the structure of the State University of
Tirana - In 1991 the PUT obtained the status of
independent university, grouping in itself all
the engineering faculties belonging till then to
the University of Tirana - PUT is a public non profitable high technologic
institution

Diploma
- The period of studies is 10-11 semesters
- 9-10 semesters are reserved to the teaching, in
terms of classic point of view, and - the last one is reserved to the Final Work
- Two basic years, are common for all the students
of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, except
those in Architecture - The Faculties are responsible of courses
- The departments of the each Faculty manage the
Final Work of the students in the last year

9- At September 1961 was opened Speciality "Low
Currents (Electronic Department today) at
Electrical Faculty. - On 1969 were created two profiles on Electrical
Department Industrial Electrification and
Electric Power-Plants, also was created
Radio-electronic Profile. - At year 1991 was created the Polytechnic
University with four Faculties and one of them
was Faculty of Electrical Engineering with two
main departments, Electronic Department and
Electrical Department.

13- At year 1996 were graduated first students on
specific profiles of Telecommunications,
Automatics and Computer Engineering, - At 1996 based on the proposal of UPT, Ministry of
Education has founded the Distance Learning
Department. - At 2002 at Electronics Department has started 32
System with three main directions of
Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer
Engineering.
14- Telecommunications Section
There are 7 full-time lecturers in the
section, one is Ass. Prof. There are also five
part time lecturers. The main subjects
covered by this section are
-Telecommunications networks, -Microwaves,
-Optical Communications, -Digital Image
Processing, -Wave Propagation and Antennas,
-Radio-communications Systems.
15- The research work is focused on the following
areas - The design of the GSM networks Packet
communications, - Vodafone Sites Field Radiation Phase1
- Vodafone Sites Field Radiation Phase2
- Software design,
- Optical communications,
- Digital Image processing.
16Computer Engineering Section
- There are 7 full-time lecturer, two
Professors. There are also five part time
lecturers. - The main subjects covered by this section are
-
- -Digital Electronics,
- -Computer architecture,
- -Software Engineering,
- -Operating Systems,
- -Computer Networks.
17- The research work is focused on the following
areas - Intercommunications of the microprocessors based
systems, - Software Engineering,
- Parallel Architecture SIMD, MIMD,
- Design of microprocessors based control systems
18Fundamental Electronics Section
- There are 5 full-time lecturers in the
section, one is Professor. There are also 3 part
time lecturers. - The main subjects covered by this section are
- -Fundamentals of Electronics,
- -Linear and Nonlinear Electronics.
- The research work is focused on the area of
- -Circuit Simulations with PSPICE.
19Automatic Control Section
- There are 4 full-time lecturers in the
section, - 2 Professors. There are also 2 part time
lecturers. -
- The main subjects covered by this section are
- -Automatic Control,
- -Robotics,
- -Identification and optimization,
- -Control of processes
20- The research work is focused on the following
areas -
- -CAD in automatics,
- -Industrial controlled systems,
- -Automatic control of Power systems.
