What is a Salt Marsh?

• A salt marsh is a wetland that occurs when land
  meets sea.
• Their salt content varies depending upon whether
  they are right on the sea or further upstream.
• The salt and water level determine which animals
  live there.
• Salt marshes are extremely productive.The
  vegetation provides shelter for animals.

• The mosquito on the left is a picture of the pail
  marsh mosquito. The pail marsh mosquito is found
  in Asia, Europe, and North America. They live by
  bays, lakes, and marshes! Males have a serious
  virus. They feed on horses.

Animals of the salt marsh

• The picture on the left is a horse shoe crab. The
  horse shoe crab is found by the ocean when the
  tide comes they dig themselves under the sand
  when it leaves they come back up. They spend all
  their short lives digging.They dont live for a
  very long time! The horse shoe crab is not
  related to a crab they are related to spiders!!!
  Their main food is clams.
