• Moreni is a small town, with a population aprox.
  20000 inhabitants, situated in a hilly area in
  the South of Romania, about 100 Kms. from
  Bucharest, the capital of the country.

• In the past it used to be famous for its rich oil
  resources. During the communist regime, it was a
  highly industrialized place besides oil
  extraction, there were three big mechanical
  sites. This required the setting up of
  educational centers of high proportions in order
  to ensure the training of the labour force
  focused on the given industrial requirements.

• The tradition of our high school education goes
  as far back as the 1950s.

• The high school in this town has issued highly
  trained graduates every year. These young people
  then took up university training and managed to
  accomplish successful careers.

• After 1990, we have tried to change and
  reorganize the high school and its curriculum so
  that they should fit in the new world.

• At the present, our high school has the following
  fields of training computers, foreign languages,
  natural sciences, social sciences. We also have a
  number of 32 classes ranging from the 5th (11
  years education) to the 12th (18 years education)
  with over 800 pupils in all and 70 teachers.
  Great attention has been paid to the refurbishing
  of the school building, to its upgrading
  according to the new requirements based upon
  computerized education.

• Last year, a highly equipped informational center
  has opened to the public it contains 28360 books
  of literature and sciences, 8 computers, a
  projecting system etc.

• The school also has a Chemistry lab, a Physics
  lab, a Biology lab and a foreign language lab, a
  center for psycho-pedagogical and professional
  cancelling. All these have enhanced the learning
  performances of our students during the past
  years.

• Every year, our students have been awarded prizes
  in school contests at district and national
  levels while most of our graduates have applied
  for prestigious universities.

• Also, many of our present teachers are former
  students of this high school Great attention is
  paid now to a diversified education such as
  sports, literary activities, a school magazine.

• Within the limits of the national curriculum, we
  have been trying to include a number of optional
  courses to suit the pupils interest.
