This was our second year.Thank you again for
your generosity!
3
Here are the 32 Students who participated.
4
And here are Mr. Capralis and Mr. Collins. This
is the second year that they joined us for the
trip.
5
What was the money used for?
  • We used the money in order to pay for a bus for
our trip to Escondido. We visited the CRES
Institute and the Wild Animal Park.

6
Who went on the trip?
  • Students were selected based on their final grade
    for semester 1.
  • The top 20 of the students from each of my
    classes were invited.
  • My Teachers aides were also invited.

7
What was the purpose of our trip?
  • Reward the top students for their hard work.
  • Give students the opportunity to visit a research
facility and do some lab research.
  • Give students more awareness about endangered
    species.

8
What we did
9
We arrived around 830
  • First we took a tour of the CRES facility.
  • (Conservation and Research for Endangered Species
aka Center for Reproduction of Endangered
    Species)

10
Robin gave us a tour of CRES
11
We saw the Frozen Zoo
12
We saw some of the labs
13
  • They do a lot of research with frogs since frogs
are good indicators of the overall health of an
    ecosystem.

14
We then spent the morning enjoying the Wild

Then we learned about frog biology and the
Chytrid fungus
  • Scientists believe that the decline and
disappearance of some frogs species world-wide
may be due to a disease caused by a fungus.

21
  • We got to help identify infected frogs using a
    PCR test.

Thank you again!
  • My students had a wonderful time.
  • In these difficult financial times, it is so
refreshing to take my students on this type of
    field trip.
  • It was a truly educational experience for all of
    us.
  • The CRES staff has invited us back again next
year. They appreciate how well behaved all of my
    students are.
