2What are Megaprojects?
- They are large-scale projects distinguished by
cost, - complexity and the potential impact on the
community. - Collectively, these projects represent several
billion - dollars in significant transportation
improvements all - long overdue. When completed, they will offer
travelers - more choices to reach their destinations,
including - improvements to multiple modes of
transportation.

4Telegraph Road Project Overview
- Rebuild the I-95 interchange at Telegraph Road.

- Final two miles of Fairfax County Parkway

Status/Milestones
- Phase 1 and 2 of the project are on schedule
with a projected end date of November 2010 - Stimulus money has funded phase 3 and 4 of the
project - Phase 4 will be completed as part of the current
contract - Phase 3 will be a separate design build contract
with an award in - February 2010

- Two new lanes in each direction
- First-time introduction of HOV to the Beltway and
Tysons Corner - Congestion-free network for transit service
- Pedestrian and bicycle access
- Replace more than 260 million of aging
infrastructure - including more than 50 bridges overpasses

neighborhoods - Construction of Springfield Interchange Phase
VIII to create a seamless HOV network - Improved connection for I-66 regular lanes

vehicles in the lanes Not an everyday toll road

vehicles

8-mile extension included in the Northern Section

20Benefitting Local Economy
- Between 2008 and 2013, HOT Lanes construction
will pour 1.54 billion of direct construction
funding into regional economy nearly double the
transportation funding included in the Federal
Stimulus for Virginia - Construction of HOT Lanes expected to generate
2.7 billion in economic benefit for Washington
metropolitan region, with 2.3 billion expected
to benefit Fairfax County economy - 3.5 billion expected to benefit Commonwealth of
Virginia economy -
