Nathaniel Adams Coles Early years

• He was born March 17, 1917, though there are many
  debates whether or not that was his exact birth
  date.
• Young Nat was an amazing pianist by the age of
  12.
• When he was in high school formed his first Jazz
  band.

Nats beginning Career

• Nat started the band the Nat King Trio, which
  he played in with his brother.
• By the time Nat was twenty, he was known in every
  bar in Los Angeles.
• Nat however had a problem with playing in a bar
  were blacks couldnt see him play. Nat would
  refuse to play unless they changed their rules
  before he got there.

Married With Children

• Nat Married his first wife Nadine Robinson in
  1936. They met on a play called Shuffle Along.
• He later married his second wife, Maria
  Ellington, in 1946.
• In 1950 they had their first daughter named
  Natalie Cole, born on June 2.
• A few years after that they adopted Carol who was
  born 17/10/1944.
• Later in 1959 they adopted a son named Nat Kelly
  Cole.

• The couple didnt believe that they would have
  kids, but then a miracle happened. They had twin
  girls on September 6, 1961.
• They were named Timolin and Casey. They named
  Casey after a pro-baseball player because Nat
  loved sports. Timolin was named from a friend.

Nats Firsts.

• Nat was the first African-American to have his
  own radio show and later in his career, his own
  Television show.
• Nat started on his radio show the same year he
  met Maria.
• He would play for a half hour on the radio from
  whatever location his big concert was at.
• In 1956, Nat started his on Television show. It
  was the first attempt to have a black man as a
  television host. Unfortunately it was cancelled
  because the show couldnt find a sponsor. The
  show only lasted one year.

• Nat performed in movies like the St. Louis Blues,
  a very popular movie in its time, he played the
  role of W.C. Handy. He was also in The Nat King
  Story( He played himself).

Nat king Cole Leaves us

• A tragedy befell us in 1965. Nat Cole died of
  lung cancer at the age of 48. Nat had a smoking
  problem, he used to smoke three packs of
  cigarettes a day. Although they may not produce
  art in the future, the artist will always be
  remembered for his best.
