Why learn Environmental Philosophy?

Aim of the course
Environmental protection is becoming an important
agenda in recent times, and this is highly
related to the development of science and
technology. This course aims to provide an
introduction to this issue by (1) Providing
students with a broad understanding of
environmental issues (2) Introducing the ways in
which philosophical perception on environmental
issues has been developed, and how these
philosophies has affected current strategies on
environmental protection (3) Increasing
students ability to develop their own thoughts
about environmental issues

Learning outcome
By the end of the course, students should be able
to (1) Have a broad understanding on
environmental issues (2) Identify and describe
key philosophical responses towards the
environment, and their influence on current
strategies in environmental protection (3)
Present own opinion on environmental issues, with
due consideration the view of others.
