Update on trilepton
  • DATASETS
  • Bhmu0d L346 pb-1 GEN 5
  • Bhmu0h L399 pb-1 GEN 6
  • BACKGROUNDS
  • DIMUON REGIONS
  • Gen 5 MC (5.3.4) for all major background
  • Cross check t-tbar and WW contribution against
    6.1.3 MC if needed, use in trilepton region (top
    mass 175 GeV large statistics)
  • TRILEPTON REGIONS
  • Gen 5 MC (5.3.4) for all backgrounds
  • New DY Z/????? with ISR/FSR
  • Just finished stripping, so results refer to
    Pythia Z/????? with FSR only
  • FAKE
  • Beate calculated the new fake rate for the
    leptons (not implemented yet)

Lepton ID
  • CHANGE TO THE ID requirement
  • CMU muon ?x lt 7 cm (from lt3 cm)
  • Add ?2 requirement to any muon (not for CMIO
    below 20 GeV)
  • Add tight d0 cut on any muon (not for CMIO below
    20 GeV)
  • Add tight d0 cut on electron to reject
    conversions
  • Loosen the conversion removal cuts
  • For the CMIO, want to change the definition to
    avoid discontinuity add tight d0 cut and ?2
    requirement also to CMIO below 20 GeV.
  • HIGH pt scale factors and trigger efficiencies
  • High pt group blessed the results
  • Else calculated the sf for low pt muons for GEN5
    data and GEN 5 MC including the isolation
    efficiency into the ID efficiency to be
    consistent with high pt group
  • Low pt muon sf for GEN6 data and GEN5 MC on going
  • As for now using the same scale factor as for GEN
    5

Conversion scale factor
  • CDF note released last week (CDF8073)
  • Better understanding of the first bin in the
    scale factor as a function of the seed electron
    Et (changed datasample, modified the background
    subtraction, revisited systematic uncertainties)
  • It has been revised ever since (not uploaded as
    CDF note yet)
  • Implementation
  • Select events with simulated photon
  • Apply conversion removal algorithm to any seed
    electron with partner track pt gt 0.7 GeV
  • If the electron passed the filter, the event is
    scaled up

    mult. regions even though they are not related to
    our signal (is this fake contribution?)
