Title: Artificial Intelligent Beings

1
Artificial Intelligent Beings
  • By Alex Tison

2
What is an Intelligent Being?
  • An artificial intelligent being is anything other
than human or animal that is created to interact
with its environment just as a human or any real
    being would.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!
4
Ethical Questions
  • 1) can a living being be conscious and not be
    able to suffer ?
  • 2) can a living being suffer and not be
    conscious?
  • These are all questions asked when it comes down
to the experiments and rigorous tests scientists
use when it comes to creating artificial beings.

5
Pioneers of Artificial Intelligence
  • In 1996 Big Blue a computer was created and was
put to the test to compete against Gary Kasparov.
  • The computer won but what does this really
mean? After all, Big Blue was not able to move
the pieces around, let alone actually see the
    chess board itself.

6
More Modern pioneers
  • Rodney Brookes came on to the scene to help
explain how an artificial being could interact
with its environment through either locomotion,
    speech or social interaction.
  • At first Brookes work wasnt viewed as the best
but once he released his experiment insects into
there own world to function people started paying
his work some attention and it became a big deal
    to society.

7
Todays Ideas on Artificial Intelligence!!!!!!!
  • After Brookes created the Kismet a robot that can
respond to social cues researchers and scientists
are trying to come up with ideas having a machine
that can respond to the blink of an eye or the
lift of a finger in helping severely disabled
people around the house. There is even a robot
that can help diagnose autism in children by
interacting with them socially and then analyzing
    the results.

8
Questions to be asked??
  • First and for most what is your take on
    artificially created beings?
  • How Do you feel about human testing in order to
    create these beings?
  • What kind of technological advance do you think
will spring forth from the creations of these
    beings.
