Title: Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

1
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
Mary
2
  • He has cast the mighty from their thrones, and
    has lifted up the lowly.

3
1st Reading
  • This reading has a lot of apocalyptic symbols.
  • The Messiah was born of the Woman.
  • This Messiah-King is destined to rule the
    nations.
  • Satan is destined to destroy them and all her
    other offspring.

4
2nd Reading
  • Christ is everything for us
  • He is the firstfruit of every good thing we have
    received.
  • His resurrection is a guarantee of our own
    resurrection.
  • Because of Him we are one family again.
  • Our share in divine life comes through Him.

5
Gospel
  • Marys magnificat
  • Marys soul proclaims Gods greatness and
    magnanimity.

6
Her soul magnifies the Lord !
7
The Lord has looked upon His handmaid's
lowliness
  • Mary is the Anawin.
  • The poor of Yahweh.
  • They practically have nothing.
  • Disowned by the world.
  • Their hope is only on God.
  • God is very near to them.

8
His mercy is from age to age to those who fear
him.
  • Fear of the Lord is the first stage of wisdom
  • Because of Marys reverential fear of God, God
was truly merciful to her in showering her with
    all graces.

9
The Lord dispersed the arrogant of mind and
heart.
  • Mary is truly HUMBLE and LOWLY, that is why God
    chose her.
  • God did not choose the great, the important, the
    superior, the proud.

10
He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones
but lifted up the lowly.
  • Mary is a poor young, lowly woman, and for this
    God chose her.
  • God did not want the powerful, the well-connected
    in society, those in authority.

11
The hungry he has filled with good things the
rich he has sent away empty
  • Mary truly has no material riches, she really is
    a poor woman.
  • However God has filled her with all the good
    things.
  • While for the rich A Warning! In the future you
will go empty- handed, you will have nothing!

12
And for this we can summarize Her virtues
13
  • God chose Mary for what She is Not for what
    She has
  • We chose others for what they have not for what
    they are

14
  • Let Gods standards and Marys virtues be our way
    of living.
