What is Elluminate?

• Software that allows multiple users to login
  synchronously to share a host of collaborative
  tools (e.g., chat, white board, polling,
  hand-raising, response voting)
• User participation can be via microphone
  (half-duplex audio), chat box, instant messaging,
  whiteboard, polling/voting

How is it being used in HE?

• Live, online class sessions (learning focus
  participants collaborate to learn new skill)
• Student group meetings/work sessions (multiple
  private groups can use it at once)
• Synchronous office hours/tutoring/advising
  sessions with application sharing

  fine-tune future presentation together

  presentations by experts asynchronous access

What is Internet Radio?

• Live, radio or radio-like programming streamed
  via the Internet.
• Shows are archived for delayed, streamed access
  within an hour (listeners need QuickTime, Flash,
  or MediaPlayer to hear itwe think!)
• Listeners call in on regular phone during the
  show (synchronously) with questions or comments
• Alternatively, instant messaging, email
• Equipment allows for multiple callers to be cued
  up and routed into the show when ready.
• Producer needed to manage this, read email and
  instant messaging, handle technical glitches
