Title: Founding Fathers

  • Founding Fathers

2
Introduction
  • Congratulations! Your vote counts! We need an
exciting new bulletin board. You have been
selected to choose the next design for our
bulletin board based on the Founding Fathers. Now
    who will you vote for??

3
Task
  • Your group will consist of 4 people. Each group
member will choose a Founding Father to research,
    Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin
Franklin, or James Madison. Each member will
research the chosen founding father and fill in
an outline on that person. Then the group will
share their information with each other, create a
collage of the Founding Father they are choosing
to cast their vote for, and debate with the other
groups as to why their candidate should win.

4
Process
  • Step-by-Step Instructions
  • Step 1 Assign a Founding Father for each person
    to research.
  • Step 2 Each group member will use the outline
form to research their Founding Father. There
are websites to aid you in the gathering of your
information. You may use your textbook or books
from the library as well. Make sure to include
any important or interesting fact! All outline
    papers will be turned in.
  • Step 3 Once each group member has completed
their outline sheet you will come back together
as a group and discuss your Founding Father.
    Share what you have learned!
  • Step 4 After each group member has shared their
Founding Father the group has to decide which one
you think should be the theme for our bulletin
board. Remember, you'll have to tell the class
who you're voting for and be ready to discuss the
    reasons why as well.
  • Step 5 Once the group has decided on their
Founding Father you will now make a collage on
poster board to show the class who you're
supporting and why. You can use magazines,
pictures, markers, drawings, whatever you can
think of that will help your poster board look
great. Make sure to include your Founding
Father's name, date they were born, date they
died, title or profession, and 3-5 important
facts or contributions they made as well. Be
creative! This will be turned in with each group
    member's outline at the end.
  • Step 6 After the collages have been completed
each group will share them with the rest of the
class. Be sure to tell why you chose your
particular Founding Father and what makes them
important. After the discussion a vote will be
taken to see which founding father has won.
  • Step 7 Turn in individual outlines and group
    collage.

Conclusion
  • Now that we have heard the debate for each of
the Founding Fathers, who will win? Did your
Founding Father win? Do you wish you could
change your vote? What do you think was the most
important contribution made by each of the
Founding Fathers? Each Founding Father played an
important part in the history of our country.
Hopefully now each of you has a better
