• Laws exist for all citizens to obey them, even
  the king
• If king breaks the law, nobles can remove them
• 2) Balance of Power
• Even though king is nations leader, nobles have
  the right and responsibility to check or limit
  his power
• 3) Power of the Purse
• King cannot levy taxes without consent of the
  realm
• Without these taxes, king cannot increase his
  army and overturn balance of power by attacking

• 4) Security of private property
• Items that do not belong to the king cannot be
  taken from owner without consent
• 5) Limited Government
• Related to balance of power
• 6) Due Process of Law
• accused persons cannot simply be condemned by
  the king
• must be a procedure for hearing both sides of a
  case and making a fair judgment
• 7) Judgment by Ones Peers
• guilt or innocence must be decided by a jury of
  ones peers
