• - Malay school- to preserves the status qua and
  the contents were narrow.
• Tamil school- to attract them work permanently at
  the estate.
• Chinese school- preparation to futher studies to
  China.
• English school- to overseas.

Towards National education

• 1- Cheesemans plan
• -Free education
• English was to be taught in all primary school
  and vocational education introduced.
• - the plan could not be implemented because
  education dept busy with reconstruction of
  school.
• 2- Barnes report
• - Recommended bilingual national system.
• - Chinese Tamil - as individual subject
• Secondary- English

• 3- Fen- Wu report.
• - to counter balance the Barnes Committee which
  the membership consisted of Malays and European.
• - The report suggested that Chinese Schools
  should be maintained in the belief that a united
  nation could still be achieved from diversity.
• 4- Razak Report

  people of the federation as a whole which

  cultural, social,economy and political
  development as a nation.
• - to the intention to make Malay the national
  language of the country.

Efforts towards national education system

• After independent
• - Preparation of teachers to teach in the
  national language.
• - DBP- was given the task of preparing school
  text- books in Malay language and to assist in
  the smooth implementation of teaching in Malay.
• Malay medium secondary school- began to be
  established

• - Promotion of national unity through education.
• - redressing of education imbalance between rural
  and urban areas.
• -futhering of national language policy
• placing special emphasis on science,technology
  and vocational education

• Implementation of the language of instruction
  policy became complete.
• 2 curriculum revision were made KBSR and KBSM
• Technical and vocational was given its due place
  in education.

• Private sectors participation in education-
  allowed the establishment of twining programmes.
